I am experiencing a problem where a Voice with a particular Arp sounds different than when the same Voice and Arp is used in a Pattern

On ES8 I am using the Voice ‘Magician’ USR1 E14 (78) with Seq Arp ‘Syn Arp8’(33).

When I call up the same Voice and Arp in Pattern Mode the Playback is quite different. How can I produce the same sound I hear in Voice Mode in Pattern Mode?

Thanks for advice.

From trawling around on the site it seems on the 0X series there is a parameter called ‘parameter with voice ‘which will copy all voice data to Pattern mode. Is there a similar parameter on ES?

No, there is not the same parameter.
You can COPY the Effects and the Arp data from any Voice to the PART in the Pattern Mixing program.

Please see this article for details: Copying VOICE data w/arpeggios to a Performance or Mix in a Motif ES

There can be several reasons why a Voice sounds different when placing it in a PART. It must now share share some of the resources with the other voice Parts. In VOICE mode it has sole access to the effects. In a MIX it must share the System Effects with the other Parts.

Much like an individual musician joining an ensemble. At home one musician is alone in the room, to join the ensemble they all meet in a new room. The System Effects are used to construct that “room”.

So at home you are in one room, if the Pattern mode is the recording studio, then it has a different “room” setting which all the musicians share together. Each Part has a send amount to the System effects, like a mixer with auxiliary sends.

That’s what I was looking for. Tutorial makes perfect sense and the analogy should help keep it in the head. Thanks again. Andy.

Thanks for the heads up on the tutorial. I’ve followed the steps carefully over a few times and yet after copying the Arps and Effects from the Voice to the Pattern it is still not reproducing the same Arps in Pattern. Is there anything else I’ve missed?
