A great show at the Grammys last night and good to see a few of us Brits getting awards! I was especially pleased to see Adele being honoured again. She is the polar opposite of artists like Beyonce and J-Lo who to my mind are all sex, flashing lights and noise. Adele is just pure honest musical talent. |

agreed- great voice but she belts out everything I’ve heard- needs to make better use of the dynamic range. |

No, I’m not saying that, in fact Adele is a very sexy lady! But she wins Grammys for her music, not her legs :) |

I agree 100%, though I did not watch.. I am deeply saddened to see what our music “industry” has become (damn near every other industry too). The noise that is considered music these days is incredibly ridiculous. How people like Niki Manage (however its spelled) get famous and blow up into “superstars” is way beyond my comprehension. Theres no musical talent, yet, they are dominating the scene. Makes me puke. Really. All I can do is blame it on people buying it. Its one thing to listen to the radio drill it into our heads 100x a day (I stopped listening to the radio all together because of it), but to actually buy these “albums” and support these people for the clicks and beeps as well as repetitious grunts and moans, is just ludicrous. Shame on people for that. How does sexiness even relate to music?!?..Turn these “hotties” into models or something. Dont allow these corporate idiots to kill music, just to please your eyes and get rich off ya. Theyre making us stupid and broke. We deserve it though, I guess. |

To some extent the talent competitions like X Factor are to blame. Only very rarely does a proper talent emerge from these competitions, most are just plain performers wrapped up in the glitz of production. And that’s where the producers see there’s money to be made I remember in the UK show someone sung White Flag. (You may know it, a quiet song sung originally by Dido). Simon Cowell said in his comments that he “had never liked that song, it did not have a big moment”. By that I guess he meant there was no opportunity to get the singer to go up an octave, bring up the lights, start the sparkle shower and bring on the 50 voice choir! All of this simply disguises a lack of talent. But it makes money because, as noted, people really are impressed by this and do actually buy the records. These days it’s a little less about music, more about glamour, production and celebrity. The day the music died.......... |

Ok, heard Adele sing another song tonight. Take back what I said about the dynamic range. |

The problem with the music industry today in this country, talent is the exception now and not the rule.
The music has become more about looks and image than musical substance.
I hope my comments don’t offend anyone. It’s just my opinion. |
