Adressing this to Bad mister - it´s a add-on question to a previous question so important to me that I make a new thread out of it - sorry for that… I will be using my Motif Rack XS basicly in part1-4 “on"-mode, playing more arp´s at the same time in a “one-man-band” way. My controller is a godin in a AXON AX100 converter. I send all my strings to basic midi channel. Like a midi keyboard. I will work with different premade multi presets suitable for rock, jazz, pop, metal and so on, and for the moment I make theese different presets by configuring a nearby close preset to the style i like, also make the arp´s suitable for verse, refrain and ending, and then save it on the XS on a new location. So: What I want my external controller (MFC10) to do, is simply to change between theese (whole) presets that are saved on the XS. Specificly - Instead of turning the knob and change between the multis, I want to press 001 on my Yamaha MFC10 it load the whole preset 1, 002 it will load the whole preset 2 and so on. It worked with my old Rack ES, both in performance and voice mode. I cant do this in the Rack XS´s multi mode. Is there a easy way to manage this? Thanks for your patience! Im kinda desparate getting on with the equipment now! |

the Motif-Rack XS can receive the MIDI Bank Select and Program Change for MULTI command on any of the 16 MIDI channels. Here’s how to set the channel
Power on the Motif-Rack XS
Here you will find the BASIC MIDI RECEIVE CHANNEL for the unit - this is the global receive channel for the Motif-Rack XS, and is the channel on which it will also receive the MSB/LSB and PC for MULTI program change.
MSB = 63
If you set this Receive Channel to 1, then sending the MSB/LSB on MIDI channel 1 will address the MULTI change. Set it to whatever channel you wish to use.
Press [MULTI]

Thanks !!!!!! Bad_Mister for your quick reply. Will test this tonight and hopefully I will get the “ES factor” back in my new unit. And because your the auutor of the MFC10 article, a quick question of the programming: http://faq.yamaha.com/us/en/article/music-production/midi-controllers/mfc10/1931/7059 Do I have to program each and every memory location on MFC10 to correlate to the 128 multi preset on RackXS or will it understand when I programmed the first one? |

The MFC10 is not capable of understanding - it is inanimate :-) It is however programmable - once you understand, you program it. :-) Hope that helps. |

The falcon cannot hear the falconeer? My MFC10 actually understood. Programmed 2 memory locations and then it took the all 127. Somehow this unit must be organic? I want to believe that since sitting more with my machine´s nowadays than friend and family;) My XS Rack, however, is that a difficult bridled puppy who does not obey the instructions you give ... not even his own dad (multi editor) seem to get him to sit or lie on the way you hope. Good thing we have you in motif kennel, Bad_mister! New idea to a sit-com? “Motif Whisperer”? |
