Does anyone here know a clear way to configure Motif XF 8 sliders to control drawbars in Vsti’s like VB3 and Vintage Organs? I work in Cubase 6. The Motif XF is connected by USB
I have been looking through many forums and been asking many questions, and yes, I’ve read the manual.

Welcome to the forums! Sorry, we do not know the particular VSTi you mention but typically with VSTi’s and the Motif XF’s REMOTE mode you may find that parameters are already preassigned. We will assume (until you tell us differently) that you have your Motif XF configured with Cubase 6, and that you have downloaded and installed the Motif XF Extension for your particular computer OS. The Extension will ensure that your Motif XF is setup as a REMOTE DEVICE with in Cubase. Go DEVICES > DEVICE SETUP > REMOTE DEVICES > Motif XF > Yamaha Motif XF Port 2 (both IN/OUT) When you launch your VSTi within Cubase… and you press the REMOTE ON/OFF button on the XF (flashes) you can control your VSTi with the available parameters which will appear in your XF screen! - These can be accessed by either the KNOBS (or if you press the “FLIP” function - the SLIDERS).
Press [REMOTE ON/OFF]
There may be several pages of parameters within the VSTi (it depends on the VSTi)
Use [F1] PAGE DOWN and [F2] PAGE UP to view the various pages of your VSTi parameters
They normally come up on the KNOBS, but if you move up to the FADER SET screen, using the [SELECTED PART CONTROL] button to do so, you can press [SF1] FLIP FLIP places the data on the KNOBS to the SLIDERS and vice versa. Let us know.
ALTERNATE METHOD
And they can be set to transmit on any MIDI channel as you require.
Press [MASTER]
Press a numbered button [1]-[8] to view the ZONES
Hope that helps ... let us know about the VSTi setup (that should be automatic) but either should work. |

I solved it. It’s very unclear by reading manuals an so on. How to activate Motif XF sliders to control Drawbars on plugins like GSI VB3 and NI Vintage Organs On the Motif XF
Mastermode
In Transmit you have to activate “Int Switch” and “Ext Switch” for every Zone. By default only Zone 1 is activated. Then store this setup Open VB3 or Vintage Organs. You can learn the drawbars in the vsti what cc (slider) to respond to by rightclicking “Midilearn”
Good luck,

I should mention if your are using all 8 ZONEs on the same MIDI channel, you will want to set the NOTE LIMIT ranges as follows for all but one of the ZONES:
NOTE LIMIT LOW = G8
By setting it this way, inside out, (the low note limit higher than the high note limit) you create a “no-fly” zone where these ZONEs are not sending a note-on event. After all you only need to send data from the keys on one of the ZONES… all the other zones just send CCs Hope that helps. |
