http://www.yamaha.com/Motif10th/

Am about to order an xf8.  Was wondering if I should wait for the next generation.

Is Yamaha offering the $800 promo pack to clear stock prior to releasing a “new, improved motif”?

I’d have serious buyers remorse if I missed the boat.

That’s an excellent question. However, it’s unlikely that anyone in the know is going to speak up.

You obviously have the choice of buying an XF now and getting the 10th anniversary deal, or waiting for release of a “new, improved motif” (but not knowing when that will happen, and if the wait will have been justified). Which boat would you feel less remorseful over if you missed it?

My own personal belief is that there will be a “Next Great Thing” within a year or so, but I have no inside information. Keep in mind that there is always going to be a “Next Great Thing”.

Best of luck in your decision.

There is also the question if there will be a next Motif, or something different based on a new concept… Is the motif XF selling well?

Yet another reasoning: what do you want? Is an XF good for you?
Can you handle more than that?

not in this case - motif is done, no more to come. F in XF means final. Besides what can yamaha improve? XS was the best and they tried to do it better with XF but no luck. Software era has begun anyway.

p.s.
sciuriware, are you still alive? ;)

Hi bassman697,
I would definately purchase that Motif XF8 with all those extra trimmings.
I don’t know what, where or when the next big YAMAHA workstation/synth will be released to the general public, but in the mean time, you could become very accomplished with the XF8.
That significant knowledge will help carry you into your next workstation. You would be well ahead of the learning curve.

The marvelous and very useful extras will bring you even more enjoyment and love for your instrument/investment.

If I had the choice to buy or wait, I wouldn’t wait.
I mean, life is short, why waste time looking over the fence.
The grass is not always greener on the other side.

If and when something new is produced, that can be a future goal.
Many folks who buy an XF8 are practically tapped for cash after. Whereas you have this most wonderful opportunity, to get a huge gift pack with this purchase.

I’m sure which ever choice you make, will be the correct direction for you. I think it’s great though, that you put so much trust and faith in the hands of the Forum members. Ultimately the decision will be yours.
I’m glad I was given this opportunity, to have my voice heard here.
My last thought, If Yamaha was looking to simply unload a ship full of Motif XF8’s they could simply have lowered the price significantly. Instead they’ve given you more than ample reason to bite the bullet.

Good luck, and enjoy your time spent at Motifator Forum.

Hi,
Um, Ukrainian Christmas has already come and gone.

Besides, December 2012 no more Earthlings, no more us.
Only Harps and Angel Choirs...if you’re worthy, you’ll be there.
Otherwise thee San Andreas La Brea Tar Pits Blues Band.
