Good-morning Motifator Friends

This weekend I’ll be trying to sync the XF with the DAW using FW 1394.
Below are driver downloads for Lion 10.7 and the XF.
(attached below)
http://download.yamaha.com/top/?site=usa.yamaha.com&language=en

http://download.yamaha.com/search/detail/?category_id1=16244&category_id2=16381&product_id=1073317&asset_file_language=EN&asset_id=21000&language=en&site=usa.yamaha.com

I’ll be reviewing the manuals this morning about all the various settings on the XF as well as the Cubase AI5 software on the Mac, and any advice is always appreciated.
And as usual, replies are welcomed and not needed immediately and never expected.

Well, I installed both drivers, they show in iMac’s System Preferences.
It’s going pretty well so far.

Man, it never stops surprising me…
I can ask questions here that have already been asked and answered in another area.
Also, with all the extensive information that Yamaha included with my XF,
I spend time reading through and find more of the answers to what I want to do.

However, I just would like to state that I’ve recently found another interesting read.
I now click on Bad_Mister from anywhere on the Forums, then I click View All His Posts.
Whatever discussion is going on there, I’ve taken away something to learn whether it applies to what I’m wanting to do or not.
Some things, such as his definition of the difference between MIDI(DATA) and AUDIO(SOUNDS)
that may or may not be in the Ref. Manual CD, etc.

Thanks to Bad_Mister for being here, and writing here.
I have copied and pasted into my notes area of my computer most of the posts that have been written here by Phil,
so the book I’ve heard that’s in his future I will be purchasing too!

Lastly, one of the reasons I have my wonderful new Motif XF8 in the living room,
is because of the many videos made by Bad_Mister!  (see below)

Would both be needed?

The second one is for MIDI Over USB. It is not needed if you will always use the FW16e to connect with that computer.

Hey Thanks!
I just got back to read your post.
The iMac is new… trying to keep it clean! ...I ran the uninstall program for the USB Driver, and the pdf docs are gone as well.
Fw16e is the superior between the two from all I’ve read.

What do you think about the Extension?

Edit:  Here’s the attached list of English/ Mac Lion available downloads…

Excerpt from the,
“Welcome to the support section.”
Motif XF Auto Load

This process is called AUTO LOAD:

You can have the Motif XF automatically load your favorite data (including custom RAM samples) when you next power up* by doing the following:

Press [UTILITY]
Press [F1] GENERAL
Press [SF4] AUTO LOAD
Press [SF5] SELECT
Set TYPE = ALL
Target the file by name “xxxxxxxxx.X3A”
Press [ENTER] to select
You will be returned to the AUTO LOAD screen
Set the parameter “AUTO LOAD” = ON
Press [STORE] to write this to Flash ROM. very important

Now the next time you power up the unit will load your data.

* note: The USB THUMB drive must be in place for the Motif XF to find the data

Hi Marcus,
Thee USB thumb drive that contains your desired Auto Load files must be installed in the back of your XF for the Auto Load function to happen.

It’s not a separate driver. Just the thumb drive itself…

take care

Chas

Hi Marcus,
Hey, you’re very welcome.
When you get it all set up and running smooth, in the very near future, I would like to hear an original composition.
Or a nice cover tune, which ever…

Have fun, enjoy the Forum, and your Motif XF.

Chas
