This is a follow-up to a previous posting about a potential bug in OS 1.3 where I can no longer playback audio wirelessly over the network. I reverted back to OS 1.2 and the issue is solved. I reinstalled a fresh copy of OS 1.3 and the problem reappears. The problem is limited to just playback while recording from the Motif to my computer via the wireless adapter is functioning. It is only upon playback of any audio file that a message is received stating that a USB/Network Transmission has occurred. I am using a Tenda W311U adapter so perhaps support for this device no longer exists in OS 1.3? Perhaps someone can verify this issue on other adapters. Until then....OS 1.2 is the solution for me. |

I tried the Audio PLAY function under File Mode today with my Buffalo Wireless-N Nfiniti USB Adapter (WLI-UC-GN) and even I got the ’USB/network transmission error‘ message randomly during playback but not always. Sometimes I’m able to play the file without any problems but sometimes the error pops up somewhere in between during the playback. Looks like there indeed is some new issue here. |

Thanks VikasSharma. Sounds like a bug to me. What say you Phil/Yamaha? |

It would be impossible to troubleshoot each person’s network - and even more impossible to start to draw definitive conclusions based on just one person’s experience. I can tell you that I have a Tenda W311U wireless USB device and can still read and write audio wirelessly.. As always we appreciate your report on issues you are having but will leave it to engineering to declare it a bug or not. From where I sit (with my particular unit, and setup) everything still works as it did previously. So I think drawing any broad conclusions about this is, at this point, premature. The Tenda W311U still works fine, as far as I can tell. An error message “USB/network transmission error” is quite a different error message from “Can’t connect to host” or a message that says no communication is established. Since it has both error messages stored and waiting, I think it chose the former because that is what is happening at that time. It is not a message that says a connection cannot be established - it is saying it has detected a transmission error. That could be due to myriad of things that have nothing whatever to do the update - in fact, you might receive that message in any wireless system. Of course, it could turn out to be an issue… but my experience contradicts the findings about the USB wireless device. At any rate, declaring a BUG cannot be done from a single case - so we will have to wait, testing is on going. |

Thanks for weighing in Phil. However, I think you missed the other member on this thread who is experiencing the same issue with a different adapter; albeit intermittently. Although I haven’t conducted the double-blind + placebo stress tests, I have tried another adapter with the new OS resulting in the same error message. Upon rolling back to 1.2, the problem disappears on both adapters. Therefore, we have 3 adapters in OS 1.3 experiencing problems with streaming audio, not just one case. Nobody here has declared that this is a bug which is why I asked for some assistance which hopefully will answer why a change in OS causes this issue to persist. Until then, OS 1.2 is the solution for me. |

Sustudio - Want to add my voice to the list of those experiencing wireless connectivity problems, with the hope that this will spur Yamaha engineering to take action. In my case the problem is in sustaining a functional wireless connection between my XF8 and my iPad running two of the new Yamaha apps for the XF series (the Multi Editor and Performance Editor). For the record, I use a Tenda 311U, one of the recommended WiFi devices. I haven’t tried to stream audio yet, so cannot comment on whether or not that works. |

If there is someone else than BM having an working wireless connection between XF and Ipad, please, SHOUT it out now. I have an Ipad 2 but I haven’t bought the wireless adapter or iMX1 yet, as it seems there are too many problems in this early phase of development. Are there any succesfull user experiences out there? |

I am using the approved Buffalo adapter and got the Network Transmission error when trying to play a WAV file from my Imac. |

Downgraded to OS v1.20 today in connection with another issue. This resolved both the issues. Upgrading again to OS v1.30 brought back both the issues again. |

I just tried streaming audio wirelessly from the XF to MacBookPro using the Tenda 311U and was successful for about half an hour. On the fifth attempt I got a “USB/Network Error"… This occured when attempting to playback the .wav via the wireless connections - where 1 second into the playback it stopped. The .wav was written to the computer correctly. I’m sure this is all being looked at… A network error can be just a network error...Just this morning, during my last post, my iPAD lost communication with my network - network error. (and this has nothing to do with the XF’s USB Device, more likely to be sun spots, than the OS version of my XF) If returning to an early OS currently works for you, and you really need the real-time wireless file read/writing, I recommend you do that until you hear further from Yamaha. download.yamaha.com Bookmark your country’s SUPPORT > DOWNLOADS page and check in often for updates |

I hope so. I’ve been having wireless trouble for awhile. About half of the time it works great. The other half, it doesn’t work at all. The sequence I go through when it’s working is:
1) hit [File]
When it doesn’t work, I get to 3) and there’s nothing in the dropdown list. My xf7 has firmware version 1.30.3 installed. My router is a Netgear N150 Wireless Router model WNR1000. I’m currently using a Buffalo WLI-UC-GNM adapter. I just purchased an ASUS USB-N13 adapter to see if that would make a difference. All of the other wireless devices that I own work fine with this router. |

It might make a difference, but possibly not the one you were hoping for. See http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/462282/ |

Yikes! Thanks for that quick response. Is there any consensus around here about what the best wireless adapter on the list is? Like I said previously, the Buffalo WLI-UC-GNM only works about half the time for me. |

The situation remains the same even in version 1.40. |

I didn’t know there was a version 1.40. I went looking for it, but I couldn’t find it. Has it been released yet? I fixed my networking problems, by the way, by buying a new wireless router and a new wireless adapter. There are apparently some very tricky compatibility problems in the world of WiFi. |
