Hello!
I wanted to know if it is OK to store the motif xf in a not heated place for some time (below 0 degree).
Thank you!

Hi benoit,
So to what purpose are you doing this?
I am not a Yamaha tech or rep, but I wouldn’t advise it.
Metal can expand a lot in cold temperatures.
I would also be concerned about condensation, and or frost getting into areas it definately does not belong.

Unless you’re building a “Time Capsule” I would strongly answer with a very firm n loud NO!!

You could wrap her tightly in plastic with a bunch of those moisture removers, which are often packed with delicate products.

Don’t do it, find a warm dry place to store her.
I hope you aren’t heading to the ‘Crowbar Hotel’

Send her to me, for warm and friendly companionship.

Ah, be well in your travels…

Chas

Thanks for your reply!
I just have to store it while I am not there.
I think I will follow your advice.

Though I am not concerning about frost, as I put it in its original packaging anyway.
I always thought too much heat is worse than cold.
I wish I would travel more often that said..

benoit, I would think your worst enemy here is moisture.  If you could take measures to keep the humidity low (Which is harder in cold temperatures than in warm, as the air holds less moisture at cold temps), the machine should be able to tolerate dry-cold pretty well.

Hi benoit,
Further: Perhaps you have a close neighbor or friendly ‘relative’ you trust, in your general vicinity, that would, for a ‘relatively’ nominal fee, could babysit your baby. Or the shop you purchased it, may have spare space in the warehouse out back.

I wondered when you said zero, if you meant Zero Centigrade or Fahrenheit? O* C is 32* F.

Drop in a couple packets of those moisture collectors, and wrap it up. The original packaging should protect it just fine.
Keep it warm-cool in a dry place.

It’s smart of you to think about and plan ahead, to protect your investment.

take care

Chas

This handling instruction is located on page 5 of the XF Owner’s Manual:

 Handling and Maintenance
• Do not use the instrument in the vicinity of a TV, radio, stereo equipment, mobile phone, or other electric devices. Otherwise, the instrument, TV, or
radio may generate noise.
• Do not expose the instrument to excessive dust or vibrations, or extreme cold or heat (such as in direct sunlight, near a heater, or in a car during the
day) to prevent the possibility of panel disfiguration or damage to the internal components.
• Do not place vinyl, plastic or rubber objects on the instrument, since this might discolor the panel or keyboard.
• When cleaning the instrument, use a soft, dry/dry or slightly damp cloth. Do not use paint thinners, solvents, cleaning fluids, or chemicalimpregnated
wiping cloths.

It doesn’t quantify what constitutes “extreme cold”, but it is something to consider.

Yeah yeah, don’t treat it like your little brother.j/k

Believe me when I say this,
I’m smiling broadly with this thought:

Maybe, just perhaps ‘Chilly’ would chime in, brrr on cold temperature conditions around our beloved Motif workstations?
“""Shivers and quakes""",...mateys, from the farout poles.

I’d love to climb the crags of K-2 and bring my accordion to play at thee peak. North Face_Yodel-Lady-Ouuu!! hahaha, way up there ^.

Hi,
Yes, I also read the lines on maintenance. By temperatures below 0, I meant in degree celcius, (*C ) here in Europe, which equates to about 32 degree Fahrenheit if I am not mistaken…
Haha, I don´t live in north pole but these days have been very cold…

Hi benoit,
Well, it doesn’t really matter whether you use F* or C*.
32*F or 0*C, is freezing water either way.
I have a friend living in the Mojave Desert in Cal.
He once remarked how a small puddle of water outside, had a thin sheet of ice on top in the morning. So it does get down past 32* F even in the California desert.

Take good care of your investment, and it will provide you with years of enjoyment. Mistreat her, and it becomes a lovely boat anchor.

Happy Music playing or enjoyable fishing, your choice.
I will store your keys in a warm and dry place. Anytime.

be well All!!
