Ok, im using My akai MPC to sequence my motif xs and everything was working great untill I tried to record a vocal part using intergrated sampling from song mode. I enter recording screen (sample+note), Record, go back to song screen and play sequence and the last part of my vocal take is always cut off (id say the last ten percent of the wave form is not there). I even hit audition after recording and the entire wave form is there. All my midi seems in order otherwise as far as the motifs response to what is sent from the akai. I also tried to record an 8 bar part using punch in (1-9) and everything in bar 8 is gone when i play back the sequence. Thanks in advance! |

When recording samples to the Motif XF’s INTEGRATED SAMPLING SEQUENCER, you can have the Motif XF automatically create the NOTE-ON data to properly trigger its playback. One of the things that makes the audio recorder in the Motif XF different from a linear audio recorder - is MIDI. MIDI makes the the XF’s audio recorder a SAMPLER. In general what that means is you must have a MIDI NOTE-ON Event precisely timed to begin playback of the sampled audio and that MIDI note-on must have the GATE TIME (or Duration) to hold the sample to the precise time that the audio stops. The way the Integrated Sampling Sequencer does this is: It creates a NOTE-ON Event and places it precisely at the MIDI clock pulse that sampling begins - and creates the GATE TIME that will hold that note precisely to the clock pulse when you STOP sampling.
This is handled automatically by the RECORD TYPE = “SAMPLE+NOTE”
That is how the ISS is supposed to work in the Motif XF. You did not give us information about how you created the sample - if you used the “SAMPLE+NOTE” method - the sample would be held until audio stopped - if you were using the sequencer’s tempo. So what you must do is verify and lengthen, if necessary, the GATE TIME (Duration) of the MIDI NOTE-ON EVENT responsible for triggering the playback of that sample. If you have recorded the audio in musical time - you can set the duration exactly by counting the number obf beats… If you did not reference to the TEMPO of the clock, (that is, did you have the MPC and Motif XF in sync when you were sampling?) We are unclear on the entire process - but the ISS should be able to count accoring to the tempo at the time you made the sample. (fi you change the TEMPO the sample and note data will no longer align.
Hope that helps. Let us know some more details if you still cannot fix this.
032:000 would be a GATE TIME of 8 measures of 4/4 time, 100 would be the velocity If you did not pay attention to tempo… and your note-on event is not long enough - let us know. |
