I am having problems sampling guitar or vocals with effects. When I push record the sound turns flat and all the effects go out such as reverb, chorus, or cut-off. Later I have to add them all back once the sample has been recorded. And how do I use the insert effects or even my vocoder (PLG vh-100 vocal harmony) While I am recording vocals or guitar? |

Although the A/D INPUT can be routed to the SYSTEM EFFCTS (Reverb and Chorus) when that signal is being routed to the main SYSTEM OUTPUTS, when you re-route the A/D INPUT to the Sampler or to an assignable output, it does not go through the SYSTEM EFFECTS - On a signal flow chart: the audio for the A/D INPUT is routed to the SAMPLER/Assignable outputs before ("pre") the SEND to the SYSTEM EFFECTS. If it were “post” (or after) the SEND to the SYSTEM EFFECTS you would not be able to isolate the A/D INPUT as a discreet recording (the whole reason you are re-routing it). All PARTS share the SYSTEM EFFECTS, thus the name “system”. So to keep the A/D PART discreet (separated/isolated) you do not route it through a common or “pool” type effect (like a Reverb). It was not until the later models of the Motif that you could reassign one of the many INSERTION EFFECTS to the A/D INPUT. As best as I could remember on the original Motif (2001) this feature had not yet been added, sorry. The original Motif had but a single INSERTION EFFECT PART available and it was reserved for your lead sound. In later Motifs the number of simultaneously available INSERTION EFFECT PARTS was increased to 4 in the Motif Rack and later to 8 in the ES, XS and XF, so it was then possible to re-allocate one of the DUAL INSERTION EFFECTS to the A/D INPUT PART. This simply was not available on the Motif Classic. Sorry. If you want to record with effects you have to put them inline with the guitar’s signal prior to going to the input. The Motif A/D INPUT can accommodate a wide range of input signals so you can actually use a mixer (set MIC/LINE = LINE) if you wish. You can process your signal prior to connecting to the A/D INPUT. Hope that helps. |
