How do I change the octave of only one of the parts in a performance? I followed the manual and it only has instructions on how to change the whole performance octave.

Name is an EDIT parameter - and is a COMMON EDIT parameter

The manual is really good on things like this (see page 34). Navigating to the EDIT function is as easy as pressing [EDIT], the screen will either say you are in “COMMON” edit or “PART” edit. EDITING of a PERFORMANCE will always be one of these two, COMMON or PART.

The [MUTE/SEL] button when lit turns the numbered buttons into MUTES, and when not lit allows you to SELECT PARTS for editing.

You want to navigate to “COMMON” editing. If it is not already there: (reading what is written under the front panel buttons:

Press [SHIFT] + [COMMON] to see the COMMON edit parameters
PAGE [<] to the first screen “GENERAL” where NAME is one of the parameters. Cursor down and highlight the NAME - see page 50 for how to NAME something in a Motif-Rack ES.
