I find it remarkable that so many of us fail to realize thee importance of that STORE function after we make changes we’d like to keep after power down.

Something to remember folks…

Store, is exactly what I meant Phil.

STORE, yes Store!!

Your UTILITY mode settings must be preserved by using the [STORE] function - (not the “SAVE” function). You must STORE first, SAVE is a separate operation that involves writing a FILE.

[STORE] will literally write the setting to the Motif XF’s internal FLASH ROM. These are settings that will be backed up and preserved between power down and power back on. They are also the settings that get SAVED when you create an “ALL” data file

An “ALL” data file (*.X3A) is a Motif XF proprietary format that backs up all data that has been STORED to the Motif XF Flash ROM - this includes: all USER VOICES, PERFORMANCES, ARPEGGIOS, MIX TEMPLATES, FAVORITES, MASTER setups, Sequences and MIXING setups, USER Samples and Waveforms (SDRAM) and UTILITY settings. (Additionally an “ALL” data file can contain a back up of all your FLASH BOARD Samples and Waveforms if you specifically instruct it to do so).

You can think of the UTILITY mode settings (MIDI setup, DAW Preference, Auto Load preferences, Network settings and password, Tuning, Velocity Curve settings, Color Scheme, Screen preferences, etc., etc.) as your personal preferences. Once [STORED] they will remain in your Motif XF memory until you either:
1) Factory Reset your Motif XF
2) Overwrite them by manually changing them or by loading in a different set of preferences… via an “ALL” data file.

When you LOAD any “ALL” data file (*.X3A) - you are overwriting the current personal preference settings of your XF with those contained in the ALL data file you are loading.
So be aware that when loading an old file or some one else’s file, if you do not want to change your UTILITY mode (personal preference) settings - you should use the LOAD TYPE = “ALL without SYSTEM”.

Hope that helps

Hi Phil,
I appologise to anyone who used Save, opposed to the correct procedure, but to use the Store function.

Always remember to use the Store button to Store any changes you have made, of which you want to Store those settings, before you have powered the Motif down.

Thank’s again Bad-Mister for correcting our errors “along the way”. It’s a pleasure to be a student of yours.

Have a great day too.

Chas
