Hi, guys! I’m new to this website (love it! you guys seem like a helpful bunch!), and pretty new to non-software music production in general, and I’m having a little bit of trouble getting my Motif to recognize my XD card. I have searched this website and learned the basics (smartmedia sucks, scsi sucks, it’s best to get xd cards and a smartmedia card adapter, motif can’t see over 128mb, must be FAT16, etc). So I went out and bought a few 128 MB xd-picture cards (these ARE the same as the regular xd cards, right?), i got the smartmedia adapter for them, and I bought a reader for them for my PC. I can get the reader on the PC to read the cards just fine, but for some reason my motif says “Disk or card not ready” every time I try to format it on the motif or even access it. I formatted it to FAT on my PC, which didn’t help. Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem? Thanks in advance! |

You could try to format it on the Motif . . . Are XD picture cards the same?? Worth a check. Cheers |

I did try formatting it on the motif, but it wouldn’t even see that i had a card in there. Before Buying the XD picture cards, I did research to make sure they were the same thing as regular xd cards and i couldn’t find anything anywhere to lead me to believe they were different. |

I never resolved it. I ended up buying a used SMC card. I got the impression from something that I read that the adaptor may be preventing the whole assembly from being inserted far enough so it isn’t making contact inside. I don’t know if that is true or not but the adaptor works fine when I plug it into my laptop (through a multi-card adaptor). |
