Hi everybody,
i’m in very sad, because my motif xs 8 isnt working proper.
So here is my problem:
After the first time I powered on the synthesizer all features were reseted and set to “Initialized Voice(Performanc,...)”. And the point is, only the voices had been sorted like they were before. But not the “Initialized Performance” it hasn´t changed his state yet.
So my question is, what can I do to change it? I would be very happy if you could help me pls. *I havent safed user data, just wanted to reset all |

Press UTILITY.
This will restore all factory voices and performances. |

Thanks,

That button sequence does a factory reset, as per the instructions for doing the update. It does not “bring back the old OS Version”. Press those buttons, and let us know if your problem is resolved. |

Thanks so much for your help. I just did the same thing updating to version 1.60. Wiped out all the Performance and Master settings. Factory reset brought them all back. Again, many thanks. |

Actually I found this a bit irresponsible of Yamaha. Luckily, in these cases, I do normally do my homework well before doing updates. I read and ask around. I remembered one post mentioning that “you needed to do a factory reset after updates”. I did not take that seriously at the time. I trusted that all necessary steps be there in the upgrade instructions. I got the scare of my life when I got all initialized performances etc. !!! All this should be included in the upgrade instructions (to put the instrument back into original out-of-the box state). Any changes/additions are of course the user’s responsibility! By the way, I thought 1.30 was the latest firmware! Is 1.40, 1.50 out now? Can I upgrade directly from 1.20? I’m still on 1.20! |

Your profile tells that you have an XF although you’ve posted this in the XS forum. For the XF, the latest (current) version is 1.30. For the XS, it is 1.60. Hope that helps. |

Thanks Vikas. I was in the XS forum indeed. Must have clicked on the wrong area. |

How irresponsible ? :-) The instructions included with the UPDATER are fairly clear - and if they were not provided that would be irresponsible - but since they are - it is really on the person downloading to READ the instructions through, then do the update while reading the instructions through the second time. And more importantly - complete the instructions as wrtten. And because reading is always a wildcard, even if you had downloaded the Motif XS’s 1.60 and tried to update your Motif XF, the instrument can ‘read’ and would know enough not to proceed, as it looks for a specific file name and header in the file. Hopefully, updates in the future will be made easier - as with Ethernet it can be all done without the customer having to read (much) :-) |

Very “punny”. :-) Since this is in the XS forum, I’m interested in knowing if/when any of the XF 1.30 updates are going to be available in an XS OS. It seems that at least some of the new XF features should be compatible. |

You know I was a little upset at Yamaha, too, until I went back and reviewed the update instructions and found the direction to perform a factory reset after the update was complete. I guess I didn’t notice that direction since the instructions said the update would erase all user performances—not factory installed performances. So when I saw the initialized performances and masters, I was stunned and was distracted from the rest of the instructions. Serves me right. It still would have been better for the instructions to have mentioned that the update would wipe the factory installed performances and masters and they’d have to be reloaded at the end of the update, imho. |

All Performances and Masters are USER. There are no PRESET Performances or Masters. |
