I did a search, but didn’t find the answer.

I’ve had an XS on loan from a friend and have built a number of performances + collected a few sound libraries.

Can I use/load the XS performances and/or sounds on an MOX?

Thanks!

No, you cannot load XS format libraries directly. John Melas editor/librarians will allow you to convert XS files to MOX format, however -

But remember!:

You can only use voice libraries that uses internal waveforms for your MOX.
You can not load libraries with new samples.

Here’s a link with voice libraries that are using Motif’s internal waveforms:

http://shop.motifator.com/index.php/voice-libraries/motif-xs-rack-voice-libraries.html

You can also recognize these libraries by using this rule:
Library Type S: A library that uses samples
Library Type W: A library that uses the Motif’s internal WAVEROM and does not use nor require any sample memory

For example: If you press the following link (great orchestral library) you see a W in product discription, so this one is suitable for MOX:
http://shop.motifator.com/index.php/voice-libraries/motif-xs-voice-libraries/orchestral/symphonic-suite-for-motif-xs.html

But like Dave said, you need JM-editor to convert it to a MOX file.

Hope it helps!

Helpful - thanks guys!

What about performances?  Are those transferrable?

No - Motif XS data (of any kind) cannot be loaded directly to the MO X.

Greetings!
I just saved the data from an xs8 as an “ALL” file and opened it in JM’s editor. It worked great except it only imported Performance banks 1 and 2, not the banks I created (the ones I really want to load on my Mox6)
Any idea what went wrong? Did I miss something?

Because the MOX supports only 2 banks of performances
XS bank 3 is not loaded. What you can do is use Motif XS Total Librarian
to move all or some of the performances from Bank 3 to Bank 1 or Bank 2!
You do not need to buy Motif XS Total Librarian to do this.
Steps are:

- Open Motif XS Total Librarian
- Create a new Total Library file (File->New Total Library)
- Import your XS file (File->Import Native File)
- Move all the Performances of Bank 3 to to Bank 1 via Copy/Swap
(select all Performances of Bank 3, right click -> Copy
and then select all Performances of Bank 1, right click -> Swap)
Please note that the Copy/Swap mechanism for moving performances
also keeps dependencies intact! (Masters pointing to the Performances
will be updated to point to the new locations)
- Save the .allxs file

Now import this file to MOX Total Librarian using
File->Import Total Library!

And a brilliant solution to my issue!
With the time I saved reprogramming performances, that tip has justified the cost of the editor. Now I just have to edit to accommodate the shorter keyboard.

Thanks again JM!

Now that I have my XS performances I uninstalled the XS editor.
When I open the help file in the MOX editor it is the XS version.
I could reinstall the MOX editor, but I don’t want to lose all my edits.

JM or BM, any ideas?
