I dunno if the MOX has a way to create performances or if it has any “user” banks! There’s ways to do it on the other Motif platforms though. Anyone? Beuller?

Is it possible set up a split keyboard with only one side using a delay effect?

Yes. You would create a “split keyboard” sound in the PERFORMANCE mode. This mode allows the user to select any four internal VOICES, place each in one of four PARTS. The VOICES are individual instruments, the PERFORMANCE is like an ensemble of instruments. Each VOICE is in a PART (Part parameters allow you to customize the selected VOICE for this combination. You can program “NOTE LIMIT” regions to create the split, for example).

The synth architecture allows a VOICE to have two INSERTION EFFECTS. These INSERTION EFFECTS are programmed as part of the VOICE itself. So if the VOICE in VOICE mode has a Delay Effect, it will bring it along when you place it in a PERFORMANCE. Insertion Effects are like those that belong to the individual musician - while the SYSTEM EFFECTS are those that belong to the environment in which the ensemble is performing (room acoustics).

So say you want a Synth Lead sound for the right side, and a Bass sound for the left side.

Let’s start in [VOICE] mode. Typically you are playing through Voices when you get the idea “I’d like to split this VOICE with a bass"… So let’s start with selecting the right hand VOICE.
Press [CATEGORY SEARCH]
Use the DATA WHEEL to select “SYNTH LEAD”
Press [ENTER]
You can search “ALL” or select from the various Sub Categories
Press [ENTER]
The first Synth lead on the list is “Huge Lead” - this will do, it features a “TEMPO CROSS DELAY” as one of its INSERTION EFFECTS. (of course, later you will learn how to program VOICES yourself and can add whatever effects you desire)
Press ENTER to select it.

Now, let’s create a SPLIT.
This is easily done with the MOX6/MOX8 PERFORMANCE CREATOR:
Press [SPLIT]
Immediately you are taken to PERFORMANCE mode ([PERFORM] LED illuminates), a second (split) sound is added, you can see that the TRACK number buttons now indicate that two PARTS are now active (buttons 1-4 select PARTS, and the corresponding 9-12 buttons indicate it is active, not MUTED)

Lighted button 9 represents the HUGE LEAD
Lighted button 10 is the new SPLIT Voice - button 2 “flashing” above it means you are editing the second PART.

You are immediately offered the BASS Category Search in the screen and also the SPLIT POINT note.
Select the SUB CATEGORY = SYNTH (to search for a Synth bass). press [ENTER]

The first SYNTH BASS is “3VCOs”.
Press [ENTER]

you now have a synth bass on the left side, up to note “B2”, and the synth lead with DELAY from “C3” and above.

Press [ENTER] to go to the main PERFORMANCE screen. “New Performance” is the default name.

If you like what you have done, you should name it and store it to a PERFORMANCE location. Here’s how:
Press [EDIT]
You will immediately be taken to the COMMON EDIT > [F1] GENERAL > [SF1] NAME screen… where you can assign this Program a NAME.

Press [STORE]
Select a location to which you want to STORE this new PERFORMANCE.
