Hi

I’m using Logic 9 and I need to copy exactly as is beat 4 to beat 2, so ll notes will stand on the same places
In Motif XS this operation is called “Copy event”, where you can select measure-beat-clock region and copy it to another place.

see attach

thanks

Doesn’t Logic allow basic cut and paste?

1. select the block of notes to move with the mouse
2. Apple-C (copy) (if you want to REMOVE these notes at the smae time: Apple-X)
3. Move cursor to the new location
4. Apple-V (paste)

If I put the cursor at the start of the 2nd beat, notes will be copied from the beginning of the 2nd beat (that is wrong)
How to put the cursor at the correct location of the 2nd beat, similar to the location of the first note of the 4th beat?

Ok, first take this the right way but, if you are getting advice from non Logic users, it is a sign you need to spend some time in the manual. There are four ways of handling this that immediately jump to mind.

1) The suggestion above works. You simply have to place the ‘timeline’ (as it’s called in Logic Pro) in the proper position or as close as possible. One of the things that will affect your accuracy is the ‘Snap’ setting in the toolbar. Smart and Bar are the most restrictive and ticks will give you the most flexibility.

2) Cut and copy a midi region: see pic #1 below

3) Drag and copy the notes within the region:  see pic #2 below

4) Copy and drag the notes within the event editor:  see pic #3 below
