forgive me but isn’t the performance mode on the motif equal to the karma feature of the korg? If not better

Nope, not the same at all. The equivalent of PERFORMANCE mode on the M3 is COMBINATION mode, which lets you split or layer up to 16 programs (voices). The KARMA feature is a separate entity, and can be applied to either programs or combinations, along with the additional DRUM TRACKS.

Also, there is a huge difference between the static arps on the XS and KARMA. Now we can have both with the new software!

Yes it is quite different - and even different from the above description as well (lol) The arpeggios in the XS and XF are anything but static (simply a bad choice of words) but you will find that it offers something new and unique particularly when combined with the very much alive arpeggios of the XS/XF

I’m confused - Karma for Motif? I thought Karma was a Korg specific feature.  What exactly is Karma? Also, what can a performance do that a combi cannot? It just seems strange that you can layer up to 16 different programs/voices/patches on a Korg but only 4 voices on a Yamaha.  Is there a difference between a combi & a performance?

The arpeggios in the XS and XF are anything but static

Perhaps a poor choice of words, given that you can jump from one arp to another when playing, however, KARMA offers a different dynamic that brings random rhythms, beats, and textures to the table.

If there’s a way to get the XS to do that out of the box.... I want to know!

The release date was changed from “April 1” to just “April”. See the last post, from Stephen Kay, on page 18 of this thread:
