Sorry for the possibly stupid question - I’m pretty new to the MO-8. I want to set up my pedals so that the FC-4 acts as a sustain pedal (the default as far as I can tell) and then use the FC-5 to increment through patches etc. Is this possible and, if so, how do I go about setting this up? I’ve tried looking this up in in the manual, but a lot of it is going right over my head…

Thanks in advance.

No, you can’t.
MO8 has only one switch pedal input (and one for continous pedal).
So you can connect only one switch (sustain) pedal either for
sustain or for program increments (or other switches)
(as set in Utility->CTLASN->FTSW)

OK - thanks for the quick reply. Is what I want to do feasible at all (even if it would require a different pedal)?

Yes you can do almost anything over external midi,
but some things are not that simple as they seem to be :)

You could, e.g. connect a second keyboard with a sustain-pedal via Midi-In,
(for sustain), and set the MO’s footswitch to PC inc/dec (CC99/100).

But you cannot send CC99/100 from external devices and do the PC inc/dec
(as I would expect), for that you have to send program change messages,
e.g with a midi foot controller that supports that
(like Yamaha MFC10)

It also depends what you really want to,
for instance it is not supposed to switch between patches in voice mode
in the middle of a performance, because you will have a short interrupt in sound. For that you have to use the pattern/song modes.

Would it be possible to assign the variable pedal to “Release” and use it for the sustain pedal, then use the switch pedal for the patch increments?
