Hey all,
Check it.
Yes, many of us have expressed what we’d like to see in a new Motif. That’s great. I’ve expressed some of my own as well. Some I have seen small portions agree on (while in this forum, may appear large), while others are sometimes just my idea. All the information is out there. Check the specs, read the manual. Buy it if it suits you.
The XS, the ES, and the classic are still excellent boards.
Its awesome to see how many people anticipate to be return customers to Yamaha, but please, if you choose to go elsewhere, do so without a fuss. I do understand expressing your opinion, as everyone’s is valued to Yamaha and I’m sure they’d like to hear. However, please find a single forum to add your relevant rant to, rather than starting a new. We will have new Motif users in here that the XF is their first Motif purchase, and it will be amazing for them—no question asked. Is it something I need? Not sure. This forum is in place to help answer questions—not to be weighed down and buried by opinions. Yamaha US, can we create a forum folder that is titled something like “Thoughts/Ideas?” It is clear that most forum users will have an idea, or opinion about something. We should attempt to give a better organized folder for expressing these thoughts and keep them out of the regular folders. Perhaps even this last one I just made? haha. Thanks everyone! |

Long time lurker, first time poster :) I couldn’t agree more. I have no problem with people expressing their opinions, but when those opinions take up almost the entire first page of the forum, then I believe there is a problem. If people REALLY need to bitch and moan about the XF, then either create a general topic for it where everyone can go, or do as keytarhero above said and create a separate forum so I don’t have to keep wading through moan topics every time I come here. |

We try as much as possible to just leave the forum alone and let it organically work itself out. However if we get strong requests from a number of users, we can move posts and threads so topics are more organized. We agree that if people would abide by standard forum courtesy and post in a relevant thread rather than starting a new thread it would make finding topics that you are interested in easier. However some people feel the need to try to attract attention to themselves and their opinions. It’s just human nature. |

I agree Yamaha_US. Which is why I suppose I felt the need to post a separate thread here rather than tagging this at the end of another haha.
Thanks for posting Kyle! By the way, shouldn’t you have an avatar of Kyle and not Cartman? =P
Much like the “freebie” category, some things should simply be posted elsewhere. Yes, there will still be “rule breakers/trolls” that will still post garbage and rants in the wrong forum, but at least us users who aren’t anti-Yamaha can have a place to post constructive criticism. This may also serve a purpose to Yamaha for having an organized folder for user ideas, wishes, and concerns and not having to wade through threads in the future to find these ideas/concerns. Again, these are just my opinions |

Yamaha really want to find out what users feel abut their products. Right ?. And users are free to express what they really really feel. That’s the beauty that can rise some new features in you’re Motif. Now if so many people start by bashing the Motif , this means there is something wrong with the Motif , Right ??. |

Too bad most people who do have negative opinions express them with a lot of profanity, name-calling and product bashing. That’s not constructive criticism, that’s just criticism. It’s not helping anyone. |

I suppose I disagree. Like I mentioned before, everything is out there. Check the specs and the manual. It is what it is. Buy it or don’t. In the future, if there’s a problem with the instrument not performing in the way it has said it would (I.E., an LFO won’t sync), then it is understandable for the user to express their frustration. But complaining about something before they buy it? That just seems silly. Again, we all have our ideas of our ideal Motif...the XF is not something I see myself needing. However, I didn’t punch a hole in the wall when the XF was announced—like it seems some other users might be doing (which confuses me). Its got some extra features—one of those being that it answered the concern of saving and loading samples while not tied to a computer. If that’s what you need, along with the extra sounds, then cool. If not, just relax. Many of us use several pieces of hardware and software for a reason, and it will continue to be that way.
For me (like many users) I like to write sounds, and compose my own music. My XS Rack will be timeless the way I utilize it. (maybe they could sell me on a rack in the future that can sample?)
Yamaha isn’t hiding anything. It is called the XF. Even Bert Smorenburg describes the XF as being “an expanded and improved version of the XS.” But isn’t that what each new version of the Motif is? It seems that the Motif line will always continue, but who’s to say that the XS wouldn’t have been the last in the line? Maybe the XF will be? Who knows! It is what it is. To me, what is most important is that it is distinguishable from other brands and lines. The Motif, whatever model you get, offers something different from the competition. And if that something different is something that works for you, then the Motif should be your choice. =) |

These people who are constantly complaining here are NOT users. THEY DO NOT OWN A YAMAHA MOTIF XF. And obviously most of them have made up their minds about the product without even having seen one in person (so why are they even here?). It makes it really, really irritating to people like me (who are looking for real information) to have to wade through the constant BS on every… damn… topic. It is NOT a dissatisfied user base, it is a small number of forum trolls who are making up issues with a product they don’t own, hijacking real threads by interested consumers and arguing with people who DO know the product over every post they make. The admins are doing a good job and I appreciate them allowing the forums to kind of manage themselves… but at some point enough is enough. |

My criticism is very constructive because i try to imagine solutions to make Motif much better, and i try to prove that with examples. At least i try to be a positive critic. Now Motif synth engine is becoming to old and needs some powerful updates including new efx etc. 3 years have passed and they don’t update Motif with new efx...etc .That’s absurd . That’s why now users start to bash Yamaha..Right ?. Maybe that’s the cause .Now users have a negative feeling because Yamaha has come with exactly the same sound engine again, but at a bigger price. So maybe now people fell like they are tricked . If Yamaha start to delete and move treads , the situation can become even worst. Motif ES have exactly the same efx bundle like Motif XS and XF. So is very hard to sell the same EFX bundle over and over again, hooping people will trust you’re “new” Motif because u have change the color in black. Let’s be serious . OK ? |

So is very hard to sell the same EFX bundle over and over again, hooping people will trust you’re “new†Motif because u have change the color in black. Let’s be serious . OK ? “ Your statement is factually inaccurate. The Motif ES has neither the same effects list nor the same effect architecture as the XS or XF. You can download the manuals from http://www.yamahasynth.com if you need more details. You might want to look at VCM effects in particular. If you wish us to take your opinions seriously, you’ll need to be factually accurate in your statements. |

Yes! Please, please do so. I like the OPs suggestion about creating an ‘ideas/opinions’ forum where these people can post to, and then move their ‘XF sucks’ threads there. I’m not saying they should be censored, just moved to a different forum where the rest of us don’t have to wade through their rants. And, it’s not like there’s a lot of people bitching either… it’s like the same 3-4 individuals posting thread after thread. |

So let me guess, you haven’t seen the Ignore button that is right next to each post that you don’t like? Stop asking for people to do things for you that you can easily do yourself. This forum has an easy to use ignore feature. Make use of it. F |

This has been happening ever since the “Classic”. Every workstation/keyboard has had its detractors....for whatever reason. I think there are those who would piss and moan even if they got everything they wanted. They would “find” something wrong. |

This is a good point, however, it makes things not make sense. If that makes sense? haha When I place in “Ignore” on a particular individual (which I have), if everyone doesn’t do the same then I just see responses to some “unknown thing.” It still creates a big fuss and the thread still exists. However, now I have to think...could that be a response to said individual? What a headache. Again, I think a separate forum folder would be great (because, again, I’d like to express ideas every now and again as well, and feel there should be a more appropriate place for that), or allow us to flag users for harassment. I don’t hide...that’s not my thing. I feel the need to look out for future motif users who will be new to this page. A universal fix would be better. I agree with worknman. |
