I got a chance to play with the Motif XF and a lot of the patches were same as the XS and even my old ES. The XF is suppose to have twice the amount of RAM as the XS, but my question: Is it in the form of new voices, or are the new waveforms intertwined into the existing RAM, to make the existing XS patches that much better? |

Look in User Bank 1, that’s where all the new sounds are. |

That’s actually a good design decision and effectively makes the XF 100% compatible with existing sequences XS (that use the built in/factory patches). Just pointing that out for people who might be wondering if they’d have problems “upgrading” from an XS. Seems like they shouldn’t. OTOH that seems to tie up the “fourth” user bank (with the new XF patches) and thus there are still “three” user banks for “user” patches, unless the user were to blow away some of the “new XF” patches in User 1 Funkster |
