I need to update my Rack XS to version 1.03 or higher so I may use the change MULTI function from other midi equipment, I use the equipment live and very seldom would I need computer editing or recording. My computer still uses Windows 2000 pro, which is just fine and reliable for my use. Unfortunatly Cubase AI only works in XP and above.

Two questions,

1. Does anyone know of an inexpensive or free program that will play the midi sysex file to the motif (I will probably only use this program once for the updating).

2. While updating the motif does the display show some kind of data or a message that the unit is being updated, At the start it shows waiting for update, and when finished is suppose to show:
@Verify¥¥¥ OK
@Finish
@Please turn off

I have never got past waiting for update.

If you install the Yamaha USB-MIDI driver you can use Windows Media Player.

Go to CONTROL PANEL > SOUND and AUDIO DEVICES > AUDIO
set the MIDI device to the port go to the Motif-Rack XS = “Yamaha Motif-R XS-1”
