Gi has only 2 MFX? (my old Juno G had 3 MFX). It has audio recording but where’s the sampler in Juno-G V2.0? No SRX boards...wonder what the Wave ROM is: hope its more than the 64MB on the Juno G. |

i am very sorry to say that - because years ago i used to rely only on roland instruments - rolands new synths seem like toys and not like instruments to me. battery synth. battery effekt. battery amp.

I agree. They have been releasing lackluster products for some time. The last revolutionary device was the V-synth (especially the XT rack with 16 part multitimbral). The Fantom-G was slightly ahead of Fantom X esp with screen and converter quality but it took some OS upgrade to get multi-sampling, and you are right: the ARX boards have stopped after the 3 releases (drums, EP, brass). I don’t care for EP and brass too much so if they released at least like a Jupiter ARX and a modeled guitar or piano ARX, I would be impressed. Roland was THE premier company in the 80’s with its lush synthesizer sounds, analog drum sounds and fat basses. Its regretful that they are releasing only entry-level products these days. Sure Gaia is better than the SH-01, and sounds pretty lush but its mod matrix, etc lack compared to softwares or hardwares like Virus or Radias. However, one very good thing about seeing this lackluster performance by both Yamaha and Roland is the fact that it tones down my gear lust quite a bit and focus on creativity :) |

nothing special really… going backwards the big three are now in their “affordable” era. what was this countdown all about??? silly it seems like the XF is the only serious new product on the market at the moment, Korg and Roland are too busy in investing keyboards for children. |

Exactly, the silly ‘final countdown’ made me think they will release an updated version of the analog synth like JX-8P used in Europe’s Final Countdown, lol. |

hahahaha hehehehe hohohohohoo The ‘i’ in Di and Gi stands for ‘idiot’. In fact, ladies and gentlement, Roland is on the road to becoming the premier idiot’s company haha.
By ‘stripping’ down features from a previous model and putting a teenie female player in their ad to sell to ‘dumbed down’ crowds (no sexism intended), I feel they are more for ‘selling to the market’ than serious about music production.....
original Juno-G was great in features; it even had a sampler..only thing it lacked from fantom x was multi sampling and RAM, and aftertouch and some little other features. $999.00? bwahahaha..sheesh Roland try better next time. how about you give us more fantom arx types. how about you give a new v-synth with 8 part capability each with its own fx? how about you just stick your head in the sand!!! |

Dont you see broda? she’s screwing the marketing dept of companies (yamaha, roland) and the whole new generation of wives, mothers and sisters! get rid of her I say! Bring back 8 part MFX (instead of going to 2 from 3 haha) Roland. Get the sampling from juno-G v2.0 Roland! |

The Gi is getting quite a flaming in the Rolandclan forums...mostly because noone can figure out who actually wants something like this..lol The Gi is targetted at the same *young portable* crowd as the Di was, ie folks into playing music rather than actually understanding a synth or sequencer so hopefully this was intended as a Di replacement (improved soundset and audio recording) leaving still time and room for a new budget workstation to replace the Juno G… an awesome bang/buck product just looking long in the tooth today. so the Gi is a nice first synth for the laptop folks.. thats it and thats all |

The Juno-Gi is actually pretty nice synth when I delved into the details. It does lack a full on-board sequencer, but Roland tried to bring about the studio in a box with laptop concept. Most people now prefer using computer sequencers anyway.
This keyboard has some neat features:
And the sound is amazing! Roland’s classic electro sound just amplified with better converters:
IMO it sounds fatter than the Motifs which sound a little more natural and flat...great board to have :)
