I had used a friend’s Imac prior...didn’t have much experience with installation etc…

Here I go trying to install Cubase 4 thinking like in Windows XP, I had to go through a lot of crap especially with Syncrosoft, etc.

With my new Quadcore 27” Imac:
Insert the DVD into superdrive...boom! I am instantly able to open it and use it.

Updates...no problem...within the Help menu, just click on ‘Steinberg Updates’ and voila...there is no multiple versions of confusing updates like for Windows..just one.

The OS, hardware, aesthetics absolutely kick ass! (My Windows friends keep telling me I am a Fanboi but I ignore them).

For anyone trying to go with PC for the price, I would recommend Mac, now that I own it and experienced the ‘technical’ aspect...absolutely no headaches...Dave Polich, Dreamflight, Motif8Mine, you guys got it right! :)

Cubase works perfect, but I am also getting Logic and Final Cut Studio for the movie/graphics aspect...I trust Apple :)

Welcome to Macs - the superior computer, with the superior OS.

Never met a person who switched from PC to Mac and regretted it.

Sure, you’ll get people calling you a Mac “fanboy” (that term is so juvenile and is getting seriously tired) - just remember, what they’re really saying is they wish Macs were cheaper.

If they give you crap, just ask them, “how are those Windows viruses working out for you?”

Having stated my commitment to never buy another pc or laptop), I will state in all fairness that my experience has not necessarily been problem free. There have been some glitches along the way. But I’m glad that I have forgotten all of the Windows post crash / recovery scenarios that used to clutter my mind.

I’ve always loved the discussions of people trying to ensure me that various Windows OS’s were rock solid. Particularly because I used most of them until recently. Not one ever has to say Mac OS is rock solid: it’s a given…

Yup Dave, jealousy sometimes rears its ugly head. I too once wanted to get a ‘Hackintosh’ but then realized its technically illegal so why not get the real thing...I may spend more but its a good investment that would last for a decade or 2 (if not more).

I mean I still would use windows for my Jeppesen softwares for flight training, flight simulator or my engineering or business work, but for creative arts (music, graphics, video), I would go with Mac.

Only God can tell how many times, I had to reformat the HD due to viruses affecting the system. Even viruses, aside, I hated the complexity of doing simple tasks in Windows: like ejecting a USB flash drive.

With Mac, I love when I drag the USB folder, the ‘trash can’ turns into an ‘Eject’ icon haha...pretty cool. Mac/OS X has a well-thought design.

Motif8mine, As much as I love Mac, you are right, I had a glitch: after Cubase update installed, it froze...but once I restarted it, it worked perfect. With Windows, problems are usually recurring.

I wanted to teach my music students how to interface their yamaha PSR E423 to their Sony Vaio laptop via USB. They had Windows 7 on it. To be honest, Win 7 is great: it works ripping fast...loading is actually a bit faster than my quadcore Imac.
However, Imac performs better at multi-tasking: once the program is running, its super fast and efficient.

Plus I don’t have to deal with Windows-related viruses or frequent crashes.

Haven’t met my little friend Bill Keller in a while, he was a Windows Fanboy :D Will tell him about my experience if I see him.

I say to ppl now: if you are into music, go with Mac unless you invested in Cakewalk Sonar (which I have btw): then use Windows 7, or XP, but never any other versions.

You just reminded me, I do get rock solid performance from Windows. It runs in a virtual machine on my MAC, disconnected from the internet. It runs my Bible Software which, at the time was far too expensive for MAC ...
