i can’t fight the feeling...but 95% of the tracks in here are some sort of elevator music formerly known as jazz/funk/fusion/yawn stuff a bit like most tyros 3 users playing “tico tico” as the only sölution to represent their instrument as for your tracks, technical fine, but overall more of the same...jeez, the motif(or any other yamaha synth/workstation) enables you to do so much more… this is not really a critic for yor songs/snippets...just an abstract of what i’m listening in here every day me is the bad boy in here...so don’t give a s*** of what i’m saying ;) |

wonderwaffe I think cpeterson did a nice job with those short pieces of “easy listening” music. I do understand your feeling about most of the songs you hear at mo-song are “elevator music” or “easy listening music”. A lot of songs I made can be characterised like that as well, with some exceptions. You have to adapt your music to the audience you made the music for. However, I do not agree what the kind of synthesizer one use has to do with it. I mean a synth is a synth, the player creates the kind of music he wants to record. Meaning, one can create any kind of music on any kind of synthesizer. Jan |

I know we’re almost hijacking here, and taking it a little off topic, but I think the main “problem” is that we all produce too many instrumentals. There’s not enough proper full songs being created, and we all know the MOTIF is capable of doing it all. I loved the stuff one of the guys did the other day with the video of him and his buddies on drums and bass. Even that was instrumental, but it gave a little more collaboration. I know this is a MOTIF forum, but surely there must be some of us that are in bands and can produce better efforts than just an instrumental. ( and that’s not dissin’ the music, people are producing good stuff ). PUSH YOURSELVES TO THE LIMIT PEOPLE !!!!! LOL Mark. |

I somehow disagree with the above statement.
The synthesizer with sequencer enables many people to do what
I distinguish:
- those who use the sequencer, may be with one hand on the keys,
Do not underestimate playing with others, even Wendy Carlos failed.

Awww Sciuri, You make me sound like I’m asking for the world, and as I said, I’m not dissin’ what we all produce here, most of it is pretty bloody good. It would just be nice to have some vocal tracks occasionally, is all I’ms saying.... |
