Hi,

Is there any technical difference between the two cards? In other words can I just simply put the mLAN16E2 in the XF and expect the same operation than in the XS?

I have other mLAN equipments as well (01x, ES8, i88x) and would be nice to see the XF inside my mLAN chain.

After looking at the photo they are quite looking the same.

Thanks,

Arpad

It seems like Yamaha ditched mLan for peer to peer firewire since most companies didn’t adopt this cool technology (which is a shame)...I remember Korg Triton Studio having Mlan expansion and now this newer M3 having p2p firewire: EXBFW.

The FX16E supports only the YSFW , not the AI driver or the mLAN driver.  So the unified YSFW driver works with all current Steinberg and Yamaha products ( N Series, Motif XS, Motif XS rack, MR Steinberg interfaces) with parallel peer to peer connectivity.

An updater will be released for the mLAN16e so after being updated, the mLAN16e ( using the YSFW driver) will work with the XF as well.

The same as the mLAN16e. MAP in the US is $299.

One thing about the options, our plan is to have a Loyalty program in the US and offer mail in rebates on the Flash Boards, and FW16

In Europe we’ve heard there will be packaged pricing for the XF with a Flash board.

Basically, our goal at Yamaha is that at least at the beginning and for people who upgrade from previous Motif versions, the cost to users of the Motif XF8 with a 512 MB flash board will be approximately same as the Motif XS8.

You mean mLan16e or mLan16e2? Can I install mLan16e2 in Motif XF?

Thx~~

Athan,

So if I understand well, even after updating the mLAN16E2, it won’t work in the XF like it works within the XS today.

I mean if I put the updated mLAN16E2 in the XF I won’t be able to include the XF in my older mLAN chain (01x, Motif ES, i88x, Motif XS) as it needs the mLAN driver to be installed.

Please confirm!

Thanks,

Arpad
