I’m not a keyboard player, I play the sax. All of this midi is really new to me. My problem is that I’m trying to create multitimbral parts using digital performer. I am using the song-mixing mode i.e. keys channel 2, bass channel 3, drums channel 10. I then save the default patches in Digital Performer. Whenever I close the keyboard and digital performer down, and come back later to work on a project, the keyboard patches never conform to what I’ve saved. Is his a software problem, or the keyboard not being setup right to work with DP.

tjay,
I’m not familar with DP but, you have options available to you…

1) In the ES, you can save your voice settings as a song even if they contain no MIDI DATA in order to recall songs…
2) In the Studio Manager / Editor, you can also save your voice, effects assignments…
3) In DP you can insert and save the controller, program change messages in each MIDI track, which will recall the ES voices when you play the project…

PS, the information in that link details how to insert messages into the ES itself, however the principle is universal, in that inserting those same Bank Controller and Program Change Messages into a DP MIDI Track will accomplish the same thing.
