I installed the Mlan16e in my ES8 and the blue light is on.  I loaded all the software and drivers.  On the ES8 I did go to utility and change MIDI to Mlan.

I now select auto connector but it does not recognize the Motif ES8.  Its just blank, even after I update it.  What am I doing wrong?

I have a 6 pin fire wire to 6 pin firewire using XP SP3.  Desktop PC.  Plugged into the 1394ee in the front of my Gateway GT5228 computer.

1. Did you ever use mLAN16e with the same computer? Firewire chipsets on some computers are not compatible with mLAN16e.
2. Since you said that you are using firewire port that is on the front of your desktop computer, I wonder did you enable this port? Some ports like additional USB, firewire, audio jacks that are mounted on the computer case should be enabled in the BIOS in order to be recognized by Windows.
3. Did you try to use firewire update for XP SP3. You could find it on Microsoft website.

Applying this hotfix has corrected mLAN / Firewire issues for me several times.

Also, the http://www.mlancentral.com forums have a wealth of information.
