Hi there,

I hope your all cool. I was just wondering if anyone can help with advice on connecting a mpc2500 to the motif es......To be honest, I don’t want to trigger any sounds from the mpc...I just want the ES to control the tempo of the mpc so when I press start on the ES in Pattern mode, the MPC will start and play at the exact same tempo......Any tips would be really helpful.

Peace and love and thanks again…

holy.

On the Motif ES
Press [UTILITY]
Press [F5] MIDI
Press [SF3] SYNC
Set the MIDI SYNC = internal
Set CLOCK OUT = ON
Set SEQ CTRL = OUT

Press [SF4] OTHER
Set MIDI IN/OUT = MIDI

Use a standard 5-pin MIDI cable to connect the MIDI OUT of the Motif ES to the MIDI IN of the MPC.

And since you do not want any of the tracks in the Motif ES to trigger sounds of your MPC you should set the individual Track transmit function to EXTERNAL to OFF for each track.

From the main PATTERN screen:
Press [F3] TRACK
Press [SF2] OUTPUT SWITCH
Set the EXT SW (External Switch) to OFF for each of the 16 Tracks. This will allow the Tracks only to trigger the Motif ES INT (Internal) Tone Generator.
