I am contemplating the purchase of the Motif XS8, and wanted to get an idea if this would be a smart investment in the 3 year old machine. I am able to pick it up for about $500 less than the average price I’ve found online. But am still a little skeptical in jumping into a pretty good investment only to be replaced by something better very soon (that probably will be more $ than I want to spend). I guess I am just looking to see if anyone can provide me with insight into past experiences, regrets, positives, etc… Thanks. |

Welcome.
Don’t expect something new, so good that you would do away with
Then again, why not try a few synths in a shop and decide with your ears?

I thought the same thing - I have an XS 8 and needed a travel sized XS like a 61 key. I did this because the XS is a keystone in my music - and I couldn’t be more pleased I did buy the additional XS. I actually have use of it even when i’m not traveling - I just daisy chain it up and it gives me a whole new realm of what I can do. So - I wouldn’t be afraid of buying an XS right now. Think of it this way .... You can wait.. and wait .. and wait… where i’m betting several months if not over a year or more will go by before there is any hint of a new workstation. That’s a lot of time you could have been making music which.. you have essentially wasted on the hope of a new machine. In the end.. time is much more precious of a commodity than money. |

Welcome to the world of Motif XS!!! You will NOT regret your decision. This workstation is amazing to work with. It will inspire ideas faster than you can keep up with them.
Don’t worry about learning all the features on it right away. Take your time. Play through the sounds. Make note of your favs.
the manual is helpful, but this forum is the BEST place to get helpful hints and questions answered. In 3 months, you’ll know which buttons to push for what!! |
