If you are referring to on the Motif XS, no. You can view either the setup screen or the Arpeggio select screen. However, punching in and punching out can be done at any time. You can either automate it (set a Punch In point and Punch Out point using the LOCATE MARKERS) or you can manually drop in and out of record using the Record button.

Take your time, setting up for use with VST takes a bit of routing savvy… Basically, you are addressing the Motif XS as an external device through the VST Editor. We have tutorials in the SUPPORT area. The advantage of this routing is specifically when recording Audio tracks and wishing to process them through VST Effects.
Again, take your time. We have tutorials outlining how to setup a microphone input through the Motif XS - you can assign it a discreet firewire audio output and capture it on a track, this will not interfere with your normal MIDI recording of your playing on the Motif XS Setting up a microphone with the Motif XS
What is in the screen during record is of less importance particularly when using the XS as a REMOTE CONTROL, you can open windows on your computer using the various buttons, I think you missing the point of its role. DAW REMOTE control is so you can work your DAW from your playing position, that is, start/stop, arm tracks, mute, solo, select instruments, setup mix levels, view meters, control VSTi, etc., etc. Your computer screen is where you want the “eye-candy”, lol. |
