Novice at Cubase and Motif XS-6

trying to setup studio manager on PC, no devices show in “add device” window. Running from within Cubase (but same behavior if I start without going through Cubase)

Running Microsoft Vista Service Pack 2 32-bit ;
Installed Yamaha Studio Manager V2.3.1 ;
Connected via USB ;
Loaded the MIDI Driver ;

These are the files I downloaded and installed:
motif_xs_editor_vst_130_win
MOTIF_XS_Extension_V151_Win32
um304x86

On PC, under “control panel->device manager->sound, video and game controllers” I can see the Yamaha USB-MIDI Driver (WDM) entry

In Cubase I do “Devices-> Studio Manager”
In Studio Manager window I do “File-> Setup”
Studio Manager Setup appears, but the Add Device window shows no devices.

Obviously, something I didn’t do correctly on PC setup.
Any hints?

The Motif XS Editor VST does not run in Studio Manager.
There are two versions of the Editor:
Motif XS Editor VST - (which you downloaded) runs as a VSTi in Cubase.
Motif XS Editor - run in Studio Manager.
