First off, I finally made the jump from software to hardware and I am very ecstatic. I need some connection help though if you all would not mind. I have the XS6, an M audio Fast Track Ultra sound card, and a computer. I am usually good at connecting studio stuff, but for some reason I can`t seem to get this hooked up. What is the best way to put it all together so that I can make projects on the Motif, then transfer the tracks to Cubase?

Today is a great day I learned something new and special. I never knew that sp/dif (rca) works like a regular output...Go figure! This is the first time I’ve ever had a source product that outputs to sp/dif (rca). If you hook the motif sp/dif (rca) output directly to the m audio 2626 sp/dif (rca) input and tell the m audio 2626 to sync to sp/dif, it will show up as “clean audio” on the recording track that you can hear in Pro tools 8! Once you get the signal recorded you can boost that puppy right to the boarder of distrotion (powerful clean signal)… in stereo no doubt! I always thought it was some sort of download upload thingy...Wow life is wonderful! :)

lol Milari,

Its actually referred to as a Coaxial S/PDIF cable not to be confused with normal RCA white/red (DJ) audio cables. The connection is the same so it is easy to get mixed up. Many people dont know that the yellow video cable that usually comes with the Red/White RCA’s can actually be used as a S/PDIF digital audio cable ;P. Make sure you set your clock to external sync from your sound card or in Cubase DeviceSetup/Control Panel. Also make sure your set to 24bit 44.1k and your pretty much good to go. Use the search funtion in the Forum to properly set up your midi for the XS.

Install all necessary drivers (USB) and OS updates for the Motif XS(if not up to date). Instructions are also floating around the forum.

I remember when I made my jump to Hardware. You must be on Cloud 9 right about now..hehe..Congrats on your New Motif!
