Hello everyone. Just starting out trying to transfer 4 midi tracks from my ES to Sonar. I am currently running Sonar PE 6 with my Motif ES7 connected via USB to my Toshiba. I have set Sonar to control Motif in the following way according to a posting from Bad Mister:
OPTIONS > Project
I also set the clock MIDI OUT Port to “Yamaha USB OUT 0-1” and didn’t do anything with the MTC In MOTIF ES:
Press [UTILITY]
**now back to the apparent control issue. I am able to get the MOTIF to play 1x and record on Sonar. after I hit “stop” on sonar to halt playing/recording on MOTIF/Sonar respectively, I am unable to get the MOTIF ES to go back to measure 1 for playback either by telling it to do so via Sonar or by hitting buttons. When I try to get into the utility mode to change control back to MOTIF, I am unable to do so. Moreover, my Sonar seems to “stop responding” when I try to record this MIDI data. I have had to hard boot both the computer and the MOTIF in order to clear these problems and get to a point where I can try recording again. I have tried this several times this evening, changing small things to troubleshoot. One time I think I had too much clock data being sent because I checked too many boxes initially when setting up controls on SONAR and wonder if I may have done some sort of damage to my MOTIF by overloading it or something like that. I am pretty new to both SONAR and using the MOTIF to record MIDI and have not worked heavily with a midi recording software program since the 90’s (quickscore professional) ha ha! I appreciate any help you all might have and thanks in advance for your time. |

Ok, I somehow got the tracks to record into Sonar from MOTIF ES without having them both freeze up. I reinstalled the MOTIF ES driver and after doing that, only the MOTIF froze after recording and not the Sonar. So, problem is half remedied and I am still unsure why MOTIF ES stays “frozen” after sending the data to record into Sonar. |
