Referring to this thread: http://www.motifator.com/index.php/forum/viewthread/447267/ Is this a BUG in XS OS or is there something wrong with my particular XS or am I just dreaming? From this address: http://rghost.net/1140521 you will find a zip file called “Rhytmn I Got XS BUG test.zip” Inside the zip archive there is two Motif ALL files (XOA). First one is named “RIG original.XOA” and second one is “RIG resaved.XOA”. Both files include sampled drum voice in UDR1. The voice is called “BrushSTKit”. The voice was originally sampled and programmed for Motif ES by Yamaha. The BUG I have found is that when you load the individual voice (BrushSTKit) from the “RIG original.XOA”, the voice data loads but the waveform data will not. If you load the file as an ALL file the waveforms load as they should. The ALL file “RIG resaved.XOA” is the same file but in that file the voice BrushSTKit is restored and when individual voice is loaded from that file also the waveforms load as they should. I hope someone tries out the files. IF the behaviour can be confirmed in other XS units than mine, this is a really serious bug. I have spended almost $1000 for sample voice banks and most of them are behaving like the example here. Thanks for reading. |

Some further investigations. The files in a zip file are identical in content but when storing the BrushStKit voice and resaving the ALL file, file size grows 648 bytes as illustrated by the picture below. This small difference in file size makes it impossible to XS to load the waveforms inside the ALL file when voices are loaded individually. Image Attachments

Ok, I see two people have downloaded the test files. I hope they are from Yamaha and they are working to get the bug fixed in next OS update. |

We did private message you and explain that you need to update to the latest OS and editor and also how to fix the files you have which may have been corrupted. There was an issue in a version of the Motif XS editor that caused this symptom. We discovered it when creating the Xspand Your World files. It is possible that some of the files you have were created with that version of editor software. However the issue has been fixed in the newest editor. As you discovered simply re-saving the voices on the XS itself fixes the issue. This was a bug with the relative waveform parameter which is what allows you to load single voices from different files and have the waveform numbers in the voice be automatically re-assigned. A version of the editor did copy the relative waveform parameter correctly. However saving the voice on the XS re-wrote the realtive waveform parameter into the voice. Did you get our private message ? It basically has the same information we posted here. |

Ok, thank you for replying. I did not receive your PM. So, all I need to do is to resave all the corrupted voices in XS? Easy. However, it means I have to resave hundreds of voices… I am not sure if the voice editor is the only reason for the problem. The problem exists for example in DCP studio drums, DSF classic drums, K-sound pianos 1, to mention a few, and I have not used Motif XS editor for saving the original banks. |
