Hi, I´m new to this website, and I wonder if someone could help me with this issue: When I import a midi file to pattern or to a song, it loads all the sequences in track 1, so it is surely impossible to work with the files. On top of that, besides loading all tracks into track one, it does not load to measure 1, beat 1, etc… (begining of a pattern section or a song), but rather loads the file in some really odd timing part o the measures (last one was in loaded somewhere around measure 3, beat 2, or so… I´ve tried a lot of things like erasing sysex messages, all controllers, program changes, etc… leaving the sequences clean so I can edit them inside the motif and not in my software. When I save the midi files in my software I always make sure that the file is freed up of any sysex messages or any other midi command. Could someone help me with this, I really need help asap… Thank you in advance!!!

There are 2 variations of MIDI (type 0 and 1), 0 = everthing in 1 track. Easy way, you can open that MIDI with regular sequencer and save as type 1, it will split to tracks, or google MIDI convert 0 to 1.

Well that can’t be it, because the MO can load either TYPE 0 or 1… can you post an example of your .MID file

Sounds to me like when you saved your .MID file you included some non-standard information (this can include markers for a specific program, or other types of program specific events). How were the .MID file created.

Thank you both for the answers. Now I understand the concept of type 0 and 1 midi files. Now, in response to bad mister, I create my .mid files by editing them in my software, tracktion or sonar, specifying the markers for the region to export as midi file, and create… I´ve done this in many other Roland keyboards and never had problems with the files being loaded on measure 1. As an expertise would you give me any tips about how yamaha system differs from Roland´s, or any other ideas? Thnx for the quick answer.

Yamaha doesn’t own Cakewalk like Roland does, lol… Try just leaving all the Sonar specific markers out of the data and I bet it does the right thing.. the thing about a Standard MIDI File is that it is no longer standard when you place software specific items in the data. If you still have problems post an example of file as issued from your software here and we’ll look at it.
