I have some problems with USB midi transmission(freezing).I think USB is not enough fast. So I want to buy Mlan but only for MIDI transmission, becouse i think this will solve my USB midi freezing problem. Is possible to use Mlan only for MIDI ? not audio. I ask this question becouse i already use ECHO Audio Fire 8 for audio.

So my plan is simple ,to use ECHO for audio, while Mlan will be only for MIDI, to substitute USB. This will solve my FREEZING problem ?.

Another question > Is possible to use 2 firewire cards installed in the same PC ?.

USB 2.0 is more than enough for MIDI communications. You can even buy a mLAN16E2, which would be a nice upgrade to your XS. But it would be a waste of money to use mLAN for MIDI only. Check your USB settings. If you are experiencing any freezing with the transmission of MIDI via USB, surely the problem is with the computer’s USB port or even the USB cable.

I don“t know.

Addendum:

And, radurobert, check if you have the latest drivers and software updates from Yamaha. And if you have the latest firmware OS installed in you XS.

Check them all in: http://www.yamahasynth.com

Good luck!

thks . I use Sonar. My sysem is freezing > only when i make settings inside the soft editor, during song playing. When is freezing ,CPU is jumping like crazy from 20% to 100%. More strange, this simptom apears from time to time 30 sec - 1 minute maybe 2 minute.

If i don’t touch the soft editor durin playing, everithing goes normal. The problem apears only if i make setting from the soft editor, during SONG playing. I’m afraid to NOT DAMAGE Motif XS.

Is strange becouse with Cubase integration, i don’t have that problem. But i use Sonar. Any tips ?. Do i miss something.

I think usb is ok. I also use the latest drivers. I think they put something inside Cubase ( a defreezer), and Sonar don’t have that ?...."another conspiracy” ?)))

Is that possible ? To damage Motif XS ?.

It is recommended (page 4) that you do not use the Motif XS in “extreme cold"…
