whadup everyone...my names Teryy im new to this site...just discoverd it.. I own a Yamaha Motif XS8 and i just recently got Reason 3.0 and was wondering if anyone had any idea how to work the motif with the reason...I usually don’t mess with computer programs. But I realized there is a whole new world out there when it comes to connecting via MIDI/USB....by the way i am using a USB cord...laptop does not have MIDI inputs or outputs...if someone could help me id greatly appreciate it....When i hook up my xs8 to the reason...when i got to add device..it gives me the option to scan...it doesnt pick it up..and i have the latest drivers for the xs8 and everything...i dont know maybe im just a idoit and dont know what im doing...lol...but if someone could help i would greatly appreciate it..Thanks. |

The USB connection (once you have installed the USB driver) will provide a MIDI interface that Reason can see. On the XS itself, you’ll need to set the MIDI port to ‘USB’:
Press [Utility]
Once this is done, and the Yamaha USB driver is installed, you can run Reason and select the XS MIDI Interface 1 as the controller keyboard. Reason does not provide any templates to map the controllers on the XS to the controllers on the virtual synths. You shouldn’t need to set up any specific control surface. Just select the XS MIDI interface in the ‘MIDI’ preferences tab and you should find that when you select any instrument in Reason, playing the XS will trigger it. Reason 4 makes it a little more complex by the way, they jigged the MIDI controls around a little bit, but Reason 3 should work pretty straightforwardly. Df. |

Hey man! You’re really not an idiot so be good to yourself! Well I own an ES8 but had similair issues when hooking up with Reason. Please see my previous posts & replies.Reason is working fine with my Motif now. However Motif is not listed in it’s drop down list & I think it’s due to jealousy! |

If you log into your Propellerheads account that you created when you registered Reason then there is a wide selection of refills available for free in the download area. Df. |
