Hi everyone!

I have a weird problem with my Motif XS rack VST editor and I
would appreciate for some help.
I have been using my Motif XS rack with VST editor for quite some time now with Cubase essential 4. I recently went from Cubase essential 4 to Cubase 5 and my VST editor stopped working properly.
The editor loads up from VST instruments but whenever I try to open the editor it just does not open. Weird thing is that if I load second VST editor from VST instruments, it does open up. This is kind of hard to explain in english so I decided to put video on youtube which explains my problem better. I’ve tried to reinstall the VST editor and the USB midi driver but it doesn’t solve the problem. I have projects which are made completely with Motif XS rack editor and I can’t continue working with them because the VST editor is not working right.
Im using latest Motif rack VST editor and latest Yamaha USB midi driver. I have Windows XS SP3 and my Cubase 5 is updated to 5.1. My computer is AMD ATHLON 64 X2 Dual with 4 gb of RAM. My audio interface is M-audio fast track pro.
Here is the youtube video:

Im using latest Motif rack VST editor and latest Yamaha USB midi driver.

Saying you have the ‘latest’ does not help us verify this. Could you please list the version of the Editor and the version of the USB-MIDI driver.

Go to DEVICES > PLUGIN INFORMATION
And verify that “Motif-Rack XS VST” is present and let us know the PATH listing.

FYI: it is also apparent from your video that you have not installed the Motif-Rack XS Extension version 1.5.1.

Thank you for your quick answer.
MOTIF-RACK XS VST is present and the version is version 1.3.0
Yamaha MOTIF-RACK XS Editor VST assistant is also 1.3.0
I also istalled the Yamaha MOTIF-RACK XS extension which is version 1.5.1
Yamaha USB Midi driver is version 2.2.4

I also included the pictures from cubase to this post so that you can see the details and the path listing.

Very unusual… we are assuming that even after installing the Extension you are receiving the same behavior?

If so, try this:
Open Cubase
Start a NEW PROJECT > this time instead of opening an EMPTY template… when the PROJECT ASSISTANT opens, use the “RECORDING” Template: Yamaha Motif-Rack XS with VST editor

Let us know what happens. Thanks.

Installing the extension did not solve the problem. I also tried to do it the way you described and it didn’t work either. But after this I uninstalled all Motif related drivers and USB midi driver and installed them again very carefully. First usb midi driver, then the extensions and finally the VST editor. And now it works. I must have done something wrong in this whole cubase changing and driver installing process, but I can’t tell what it is. I think it had something to do with the extensions because I didn’t have them installed at one time as you noticed. In future I have to be sure I have installed ALL the required drivers and the right versions so that my sofware can work properly. I really appreciate your time Bad_Mister and thank you.
