I have the most up to date version of Translator and I cant for the life of me figure out how to create a single Motif XS All Voice File converting sounds from Propellerhead Reason Refills. I select a folder with 20 of the patches I want to translate in Motif XS format, and it ends up making 20 different .x0v files instead of just one. It cant be that hard but looked everywhere and even posted on ChickenSystems Forum with no reply yet. So I figured I’ll check here to see if anyone knows how. All I want is to create one All Voice file so I dont have to load each one on its own! Thanks in advance |

You’ve got to manually load each XOV file voice into a user slot and then resave as an XOV.....ZR |

This brings up an issue which I have explained in many previous posts over the years about this situation.
Chicken Systems Translator will not batch convert sounds from another format into ready-made Motif XS voices. You have to “finish” each voice
Translator will convert the basic format of a sound to a format the Motif can read, and should do a good job of converting waveforms and mapping.

I wish I knew how Yamaha edited the internal waveforms so I knew what to look for. Does Yamaha even use crossfades in their samples? |

I can’t think of a single piece of hardware on the planet that has that capability...It would be impossible for it to somehow just “know” how you want it to sound...ZR |

Forget getting free help from C.S. I used chicken systems and it was y2k problem and since they refused to compensate me, I refuse to use them. Awave has a lot of translation/conversion features but the XS is new but FMJ will help you if you ask, but keep in mind the XS is new to them. I was wondering, why don’t you just translate and load the sounds into the banks you need them in and save the entire setup as a .X0A file? I really haven’t a need to load my old sounds because the motif sounds are far superior. When I first started I could load converted sound but they would disappear when I cut the machine off so I gave up. |

Latest Awave version (at present date) cannot convert directly to XS format. But you can convert do ES format and load to XS. |

It’s not hard. Just convert one .sxt into XS format. Then drag the rest of the .sxt’s into that same .x0v file, into the Voices folder. (Although I suspect you don’t mean Refill, because no one, not even us, can convert a Refill. They are encrypted.) |

Translator actually does convert these things. I think what Dave is alluding to is the relative accuracy. If you want things PERFECT, you probably want to tweak. But Translator does convert modulators and LFO’s and filters and envelopes. If anyone can show us an example where such things aren’t converted or are far off accuracy, send us the source file and we’ll look at it. |

Translator never had a Y2K issue, I’m not sure what you are talking about. (That was 9 years ago.) We take phone calls all day, for free. You can contact Chicken Systems customer service, for free, in the following ways.
Email support (at) chickensys.com
Forums are probably the slowest method of answer. Why use it when you can contact directly? If you aren’t using Translator for the Motif, you’re missing out! |

I should mention Motif XS support is in ALL main Chicken Systems products, on Mac and Windows platforms.
Translator: Converts to and from any professional format into Motif Original, ES, and XS format
Our XS Creator program is almost out of beta - be looking for it! |

Good news! We can mount our own sample maps and save them to a XS format, correct? Very good! Thanks for the information! |

I know this sounds kind of obvious, but why don’t you contact Chicken Systems and get this resolved? See the contact numbers listed above. For less the amount of time you took posting on this forum, you could have solved your issue by contacting them. There are 6 people in employ at Chicken Systems, all working musicians. 3 of them use Motifs of various types. I am familiar with all of them and use the XS the most. All 3 use Translator or Constructor to make custom Motif banks that hold samples. I’ve been doing this for over 3 years now, it works absolutely PERFECT. Motif support has been in Translator for over 4 years. Believe me, it works. If it doesn’t perform perfectly on your system, simply contact Chicken Systems and get your issue resolved. Operators are standing by, waiting to help you! |
