I don’t think that one is more produced ..I think that (for experts) XS have 20-40% more potential.. |

This is the key to the Motif...One can become overwelmed with the shear breadth of it and find their creativity suffering becasue of the learning curve. I had to leave it for awhile...Since then I have only been USING WHAT I NEED and learning as I go rather than trying to become an expert on the Synth all at once. I left it too long and forgot a lot.... BTW Love the music you made on it!!! |

the next Fantom will have 4 ARX slots & ARX exp will increase in number & become much cheaper. For that reason, the next Fantom will blow away XS |

Yes. The Fantom-G looks good. I liked the graphic and layout of the sequencer (like a DAW) But… the sounds of the Fantom synths is not for me. And that is what it’s all about in a musical instrument in my opinion. I have the XS8 and Virus Ti...Not that great interfaces but they do the sound great. |

HINT#1: No offense intended but most of the people that posted in this thread do not create anything close to dance music. So to say that either the Motif or FantomG or M3 are suited to dance music is completely false. Sure, these workstations have some trancy sounds but they are QUITE thin as its not dedicated to dance music although they may be ‘usable’ sounds for some. Now, I own an XS strictly due the fact that it has a sampler and a nice sequencer and arpeggiator so whenever i have an idea in my head I can quickly “jot it down” so that I don’t forget it. Then later I can go to my analog synths and create a nice thick sounding lead or whatever to further beef it up. This is just the work flow that works for me. HINT#2: The presets on the XS are certainly better than the Fantoms but they’re still LAME. You’ll need to program your own if you want to get any true dance sounds out of it. Sampling from other synths is also a great feature. ADVICE: If you really want to get into dance/trance or any other EDM, don’t buy a Motif, don’t buy a Fantom G, don’t buy an M3. Buy a good DAW (Ableton or FL Studio are both great for EDM) and a Korg R3 (wonderful sounding, strictly made for EDM) or some other virtual analog synth that suites your fancy. Also look into buying some VSTs , there are actually some pretty decent sounding ones out there. Good luck. |
