Hey folks, Despite my best intentions, recently my personal and professional life has demanded more time from me (even to the extent I’ve been less active on the forum recently) and this means that I am unable to put the hours into working on the XStremeTouch project that I was able to prior to the first beta release. This left me with 2 choices:
1) To keep it closed, and release updates as and when I was able
I have decided to release EVERYTHING to the public under the GPL, and I therefore attach to this post all of the source material required to build the performance editor. To tinker with it you will simply need an installation of the Max/MSP development environment. It is here: You can download a free, fully functional version of this which will work for 30 days without cost. This will hopefully enable those of you with any specific desire to make adjustments (or even to see how it hangs together) to download it, install it and then open this source code in it so you can poke around for fun. If you have the full version of Max/MSP then by all means feel free to do whatever you want with the Max patch (within the minimal constraints of the GPL, under which this is released) I will post the code on http://www.xstremetouch.com in due course, but for now I attach everything in a ZIP file. This doesn’t mean I’m abandoning the project. It is simply a reflection of the fact that I cannot put in the time required to make timely releases. I am working on a v1.1 which I will release in due course when my schedule permits. If you have any questions about this source code, or want input on how to modify/tweak it for your own use, or questions about the javascript objects inside it, then do feel free to push me a mail on support at xstremetouch dot com and I’ll be more than happy to help you :) The ‘main file’ to open in Max/MSP is “Perf-Edit1.0Beta.maxpat” - this will automatically pull in everything else you need. Df. PS: The README.TXT in the archive is included here for completeness: ---- Salutations! This archive contains the entire source code (in javascript and Max/MSP patch format) for the XStremeTouch Performance editor. From this source you can build the standalone application as released to the world at large. I am releasing this because it is apparent to me that I cannot devote the time to maintain it properly going forward, although I will be working on it as and when I am able. To create the standalone app from it you need the Max/MSP development environment, which is available from http://www.cycling74.com (there is a 30-day fully functional evaluation which will load this source just fine) I am releasing this under the GNU Public Licence. This means that you can do pretty much whatever you want with it but any modifications you make and distribute MUST be distributed with this source code. If you DO do something cool, then please contact me at and I will consider incorporating your changes into the official releases posted on http://www.xstremetouch.com going forward. Of course you will get full credit for any input you make. If you have any questions or need advice/input on the source as it stands, please do contact me at the address above and I’ll be more than happy to help out as best I can. All of this work is 100% original and of my own creation.

Wow!!! It´s a very very very generous offer!
* I have a Max/MSP demo installed, about a 20 days ago, because I was trying to build a way to mute the Parts in Performance in real time using CC#11 (Expression Controller). The idea was to transform the SysEx messages from Performance Parts to normal CCs, and transmit them simultaneosly when recording the Performance into Sequencer… But, after a short period of vacancy (18 days), I´m starting again the activities with the XS… I think will learn very much with your project!!!! Thanks a lot!!!! |

I moved my hosting to another server and never got round to putting the xstremetouch stuff back up. As you’ve mentioned it, I’ll get it uploaded over the next 24 hours. The performance editor works very well on reasonably spec’d machines. There was an issue with it not working on lower-end boxes, which I never really solved. However, all the source files are in the package, so anyone can feel free to poke around in there! Personally, I find the performance editor to be very usable - you can certainly easily create new performances once you get it running :-) Df. PS: The download link in the original post in this thread should still work, by the way. It did for me just now. |
