Did any XS Rack owner try if the (VST) Motif-Rack XS Editor works in (OSX) Ableton?

The manual lists only Cubase as compatible software. If the VST editor works in Ableton Live 8, I’ll add the XS Rack to my setup pronto.

The Motif-Rack XS EDITOR VST will work in a DAW that is VST3 compatible… you should be able to check with Ableton if their software is VST3 compatible.

Since VST and ASIO are protocols initially developed by Steinberg engineers, naturally it works in Cubase. Many DAW companies take time to update their software to latest compatible protocols.

Whether Ableton Live 8 is VST3 compatible or not you can run the Motif-Rack XS Editor (Studio Manager version) along side it while you’re waiting for your DAW to adopt VST3 protocols.

Thank you for the tip, I’ll consider it. The reason I’m focusing on the VST Editor version is because these days I save all my soft/hard synth patch and multisample favorites in Kore. This way I can call up and compare the “best of” sounds for any type of timbre from all the gear I have with a single mouse click or two. The database approach runs circles around my memory. :-) But the mouse click magic only works if the device has a plugin editor, not a standalone app.

In theory Kore should (sort of) work with external MIDI devices with some extra tweaking, but my attempts to get this happening ran into tangles.
