I have a Yamaha Motif ES 8 and Im trying to record some tracks into protools le 8. In protools I created a new midi track. I make sure that it’s recieving the midi signal from the keyboard by the indicator bar when I press a key on the keyboard. I set protools up to record and record my first track (track 1), lets say a bass drum. Thats fine but when I want to record lets say a kick drum onto another midi track ( Track 2) and record it in protools it wont let me separate the midi sound. If I change the voice on the keyboard it changes all the voices in protools to that voice during the playback. What am I doing wrong??? Help!!!

it wont let me separate the midi sound.

I’m not quite sure what that means...

If I change the voice on the keyboard it changes all the voices in protools to that voice during the playback.

Voices, in Pro Tools? Hmmm. You language isn’t clear to me. Are you in Song Mode on the ES? Are you selecting a different MIDI channel for your seccessive tracks?

I guess what Im trying to ask is how do you record seperate midi sounds/tracks, Bass drum, snare drum etc. on different midi tracks (track 1 thru 16 ex.)in protools using the motif es 8 and be able to listen back to them and edit them one at a time. Not sure if I’m even asking this correctly. Im just trying to create a beat on the motif then record it, then edit the recording in protools then ad some effects and then burn it to a cd eventually. :-(
