Hi!

Thinking of changing computor to a new iMac. Does anyone know if there will be any problem with my “old” setup with motifes8, mlan 16E and cubase sx3. Is there enough updates for the os for an iMac? Thankful for a quick answer!

I’m not a Mac expert nor user, but I’ve read that mLAN drivers are not supposed for latest Mac OS (Snow Leopard?). What I could suggest you from my point of view, since I have ES6 with mLAN16E and Cubase SX, if you have computer that works well with your equipment DON’T change it! Why, well I bought a new computer and newer firewire chipset don’t work with mLAN16E! Now I’m trying to find a second hand previous laptop, since I’m not working about one month!
I have a plan to post all my experience about problems with firewire and mLAN that I had or read about to help people who are willing to buy a new computers.

Yamaha’s Snow Leopard support for the ES8 is till in progress...new software revs are promised soon for the editors.

mLanE2 for the XS is supported already but no mention of the mLanE for the ES :(

I’d check with Steinberg about SX3, their official Snow Leopard support is only for Cubase 4 and 5.

So in general it’s not a great situation for you.
