First of all , i didn’t believe my eyes when i saw a song posted by you. first for me anyways.

I like it a lot. Very dramatic sound. Movie soundtrack.

Well chosen voices and very neat mix. Hope you post some more.

Cheers

Joop,

first of all: Nice to have your here with a song! I know, how hard you work with your music!

You have made a great composition. Very well structured. You play and work very concentrated with the theme, give it different forms, develop it. Top!

Nevertheless I have a critic. Todays synths, keyboards offer us the possibility to play all kind of instruments: Why did you not use this possibility. You piece asks for a different orchestration:

Strings. There is a wonderful bass line.
Choir: For the lead.
Bells/Piano: as accompaniment

Nevertheless: Great new start after a long long time of musical silence.

Michael

I agree, this is wonderful to FINALLY hear something from YOU dear Sir.
You have captured the essence of this cartoon, even without the film, one could see the beauty within.

VERY WELL DONE, and thanks for sharing your work.

I thank you all for listening.
I added the “prequel” above, which was the inspiration to the song.

Ngu=Sleep, Ngon=Nice; Ngu Ngon=Sleep Tight.
Video made on the National Express SE1 Ha Noi - Sai Gon in 2009.

Grandpa Mike, I went to Viet Nam in 1993 for curiosity.
I went there 17 more times since as a kind of traveller,
for journeys of only a week to travels of 5 weeks.
I’ve been almost everywhere, avoiding the tourist places.
In 1996 I was rather fluent in Vietnamese and could have a chat
with several people, but since I married a Vietnamese girl I
focused on teaching her Dutch, so I lost most of tieng Viet.

Currently I’m working on a multi-media about a voyage from Ha Noi
to Phuoc Loi.
As I’m an apprentice piano player of age, I started with this rather simple song, to be followed by some more this year.
Hope you liked it.

The opening portion of the song is eerily reminiscent of 80’s HK movies. The song itself is nice in a BGM kind of way, though it never really pulls any of my emotional strings. But the sound is well-balanced throughout, if a little overdramatic later in. For more of this style of music, you should check out the theme to the movie Tragic Hero (starring Chow Yun Fat). Here’s about 30 seconds of it—nobody else seems to have the full song uploaded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-8GtIhngQg8

I guess emotions connected to music are very personal.
Thanks for your comment and references.
