I am trying to change the Multi patch from Mainstage and I can’t find the way to do it. In the past I could enter the numbers 63, 65 (MSB,LSB) and the program number and that was it. Now I read in the manual that the Multi mode can be changed only via the Parameter Change. Any ideas on how to do this? when I entered the numbers provided on page 62 of the data list manual, it only changes the voices inside the multi…

Thanks!

It does work, but the Rack MUST be already be in Multi mode first.

It doesn’t seem to work for me even though my rack is on Multi Mode. Is there any particular setting that you need to have on? When I try a program change, it only changes the voices within a Multi patch not the patch itself…

MSB:63
LSB:68
Program: 0..127 (1..128)

Your Motif-Rack XS must be version 1.02.. or later
Current version is 1.03.xx

To check your version:
Press [UTILITY] + [EDIT] to enter DEMO mode
Press and hold [AUDITION] for 3 seconds

I got the Motif Rack XS to show me what version is running,
It says 1.00.4, I take it this is too old a firmware version and I must update to at least 1.02 to make mult program change using MSB 63 LSB 68.

Thanks for the response. I downloaded the file mrxs103.zip
My question is can I use Pro Tracks Plus to do the upgrade instead of Cubase LE, I use Pro Tracks to record midi files and play them back to the motif through the standard USB drivers. This works very well.
I am able to load the midi update file “8F39OS_.PGM.mid into Pro Tracks and play it out at the 120 bpm specified. No I haven’t set the Motif to receive the update yet.
Thought I would see if all sounds ok before screwing something up and have to take the motif into Yamaha service to fix it.

Any sequencer that can playback a .MID file should work… make sure you are not filtering system exclusive messages - its a Standard MIDI File ...we assume PT can handle that :)

Let us know.

I’ll let you know how the update works with Pro Tracks, will be a couple days before I try the update, will be playing using the Motif for the next couple days, “The Motif XR is one fantastic sound module” and I wouldn’t want to be without it.

If that gives you problems, try sysEx Librarian. It’s for free and it was the only way for me to run the update successfully. Best luck.

Thanks

I will have to give it a try. Is their a version for windows?
Pro Tracks didn’t seem to work, had everything set up right as far a I could see. “output device, tempo, usb, etc...” appeared that nothing was going down to the Motif. All along I have been able to send midi music to the motif and all works including voice changes.
