Hello

I’m trying to setup My Motif XS8 as a external Instrument so I could work on 16 Track at the time with 16 Mono Returns or 8 tracks with 8 Stereo Returns

What I have already done:
In the Midi device Manager:
1 - Install Yamaha MotifXS
2 - choose MotifXS8Main as the Output

In Device/VST Connection/External Instruments:
1 - Add New Device Yamaha MotifXS
2 - Choose 8 Stereo Return
3- Associate Midi Device Yamaha MotifXS from (Midi Device Manager)

My Problem is that I can only open one Motif XS8 as a external Instrument

I am assuming you are using Cubase so once you have created an external instrument, press F11 to bring up the VST Instruments dialogue, choose the XS external instrument as the plugin for one of the slots and there should be a button to the left of the slot which when pressed, will allow you to enable any or all of your audio returns from the instrument.

In the inspector, you can then select the external instrument as the output for your MIDI track. Use a MIDI (not instrument) track for this multi-timbral setup.

The above is from memory so, as the second-hand chariot salesman once said: ”caveat emptor” !

I was a little confuse .. I tought that Motif Main Out L&R;where the same as Motif 1&2;Out ...  so the last 2 track hade no sound but now it’s 100% working Great
