If you see MIDI arriving in your DAW then clearly the problem is with returning MIDI to the keyboard. Check your DAW’s documentation to ensure that you are routing MIDI OUT from the active track to the PORT that is feeding the Motif ES (PORT 1). If you were returning the MIDI signal to the Motif ES you would definitely be hearing the audio generated by that MIDI data in the headphone. If you are hearing it in the headphones then the problem lies between the Motif ES outputs and the sound system. Follow the signal path - when troubleshooting any audio, MIDI related problem if you can think through the signal path you can find the culprit. Press a key on the Motif ES (it is not clear from your post if you have a Motif ES keyboard or a Motif-Rack ES...) At one point you mention the Motif ES at another the Motif-Rack ES (???) If you have the Motif ES keyboard ... (if local control = OFF then the note-on data travels out via MIDI first… check the MIDI IN/OUT = USB. You seem to have gotten this far… if you are seeing indications in your software that MIDI is arriving you know that the driver is good and you are getting the message… so where does it breakdown? The track designated to receive that MIDI note-on data (that you say you can recorded and see it record)… what about the track’s MIDI OUTPUT assignment - in order to get back to the Motif ES you must assign it on PORT 1 of the Yamaha USB driver. If you have a Motif-Rack ES and a separate controller - you don’t tell us how it is connected to the system… so perhaps the problem lies there. Hope that helps. |
