Just wanted to ask the Yamaha people if they know of any reasons why the new Windows 7 YSFW driver would conflict with the nVidia High Definition audio drivers? To the point of totally glitching out the audio?

Please don’t misunderstand I am not saying it is the Yamaha drivers fault, the problem may very well be with the nVidia driver, I am jst trying to sort out a solution that does nto involve buying another graphics card.

Alternatively, will the older mLan tools/driver work with the mLan16E2 after the firmware has been updated? Maybe that driver will not conflict.

Thanks

Decided to ditch mLan..I will just go back to using USB Midi and a seperate audio interface. WAY too many drams just to get it runnning properly. nVidia card owners beware!!!

You´re not alone. Have exactly the same problem, with the same gears.

What is informing you on your PC that these 2 drivers are in conflict?

Are there error messages which categorically point to a conflict? Please quote if so.

Thanks.

The “information” is that when the video driver is NOT installed the Audio is perfect.

AFTER the graphics driver is installed the audio is glitchy and stuttery.

And even if the graphics are then uninstalled the issue remains. You have to do a new OS install to get rid of it totally.

Luckily I run a HDD imaging program so it only takes about 6 minutes to re-load a fresh OS :)

Just have a look at the nVidia forums to see that audio, particularly on those cards with HDMI is becoming an issue :)

NP Df :)…

The process was this : Install the full nVidia driver package, then navigate to the nVidia folder created after installation. Delete the hdaudio_1.00.00.63_xp_vista_win7.exe driver.

Then uninstall the nVidia graphics via control panel.

Re-boot. Then navigate back to the nVidia folder and re-install the driver (graphics) from within that folder. DO NOT re-install from the nVidia downloaded installer package!!

This process defeats the downloaded installers default automatic installation of the audio driver. I then changed the 1394 adaptor in Device manager to “Legacy”, even though the chipset is compatible.
Mind you, I did try this with the “full” nVidia install initially, and it did not make any difference to the glitchy sound. But it DID make a difference after I isolated the graphics driver from the package :)

Since then, no problems at all.  (Touch Wood!!!)
